Custom sound sets after 1.2

So, I have spent the last few hours struggling with custom soundsets and the charsnd.2da file. I have concluded that, at least for me, the old method (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/8868/here-s-how-to-add-custom-sound-sets) no longer works. Specifically, it no longer works on version 1.2. I have an older version on another computer, and the method works fine there. Now, I also know that the simpler solution of naming the soundsets custom0-9 does still work, but for obvious reasons that limits me to 10 custom files. That's... problematic, as I ripped all the soundsets from Icewind Dale 2, and there's a lot more than 10 of them. I'd really rather not have to make renamed copies of the sound files every time I make a new character, just to get the sound to work properly. So, does anyone have a way to make the old method, or something like it, work in 1.2? Again, the custom0-9 method is pretty far from ideal, here.

Custom soundsets should be easier to use after the next patch:

    Backported feature: Custom Sound Sets

One of the features from Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition is the ease of using custom sound sets without having to edit a 2da file. This feature has been backported to Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, so if you want to use a custom sound set just drop the files into your sounds folder.
