NPCs attack each other after charm wears off

Observed behavior: Sometimes, after a party member has been charmed by Sirines or the Hamadryad, even after the charm wears off, and the party has moved on, previously charmed NPCs will attack the rest of the party, as if they still see them as enemies. None of the party are still marked as charmed or ‘red’ like an enemy. The only way I can fix this is to take away their scripts or turn the party AI off. I remember this behavior popping up in the original BG1 game as well.
Expected behavior: NPCs will return to their normal selves when charm wears off and only attack each other if story and alignment is appropriate.

Do you have a save game you can zip/rar and upload?
Saving and reloading helps.
When an enemy casts dire charm, the spell is supposed to make the dire charmed character immediately attack his or her allies, but instead they keep attacking the current target (enemy) until it's dead and only then start behaving like they're indeed charmed.
It didn't work like that in the original BG (tested it myself and watched a let's play on youtube).
The dire charm spell has already been nerfed a lot; duration has been reduced to 25% of the original version and that's a good thing as it's a powerful spell, but this bug makes it utterly useless for enemies like sirines. You'll keep attacking the enemy even if you're charmed.
I'll open a separate bug report.
