Imoen is gamebreaking (beware the spoilers!)

I was travelling through Candlekeep catacombs like an ordinary chap, when Imoen surprised me with her newfound ability - walking outside the map!

I never made her exit the map area, so I'm guessing she just couldn't keep her skills to herself and wanted to show off. Thankfully she returned (or rather, teleported) safe and sound to her team after I clicked her to go to her teammates. But, right on the next map, when I told her to open a lock, it happened again...

She just crossed the wall and walked and walked further away from the map... I figured it's harmless, since last time the solution presented itself rather easily. But this time, something went wrong...

And she ended up having a one-on-one encounter with this handsome fella in the other corner of the map!

So, uh... Does anyone know the name of this new thief ability? Maybe some practical uses of it? It might let her skip entire dungeons, if she masters it...

Hey, I was just playing that map earlier tonight, and I was fighting a ghast, and watched it walk into a wall and disappear in plain view. I guess ghasts are gamebreaking too.

Neat ability! I suggest we call it something like "Transcend Clip"! Yeah!

As for uses of the ability, perhaps she can reach into the void that is outside the map and use her will to create a relic of powerful magic! (If you don't get this reference then try reading the flavor text of item descriptions )

That is an odd bug that has been around since the beginning of the enhanced edition. No one really knows what causes it or how to fix it. Even more odd that it happened to Imoen twice in a row like that. It is usually much less common and much more unpredictable (which is why it is so hard to figure it out and get it fixed).

I love the story you were able to tell with this! Good stuff! Very funny!

@AlbinoWyvern - the devs have been trying to find a reproducible instance of this elusive bug for ages, to help them figure out what the heck is causing it. I don't suppose you happen to have a save which lets you do it again? I'm sure the devs would appreciate a copy if you do.

@Gallowglass I already did that... It didn't help much but it is at least a starting point. My save is uploaded on the thread I linked to in my previous post.

Are you sure that's Imoen? That looks like a blip on the old Alien motion tracker to me. I would be careful in that dungeon if I were you and just exit immediately. Let some mining colonists deal with it. The last thing you need is poor Minsc's chest bursting open.

I don't have the save file, unfortunately, since I've finished this game about a year ago. :P

Thanks, I had quite a bit of fun writing it, as I recall! Hopefully I'll get more glitches to write stories about, eventually, though it doesn't seem like the kind of thing a person should be hoping for...

On that note, I just remembered a glitch me and GreenWyvern encountered in BGI and IWD (though less frequently in that one). While using the red gem to pick up items, we often got duplicates when we looted things at the same time. Did anyone else encounter this?

That sounds like a known issue with quick loot in Multiplayer but I am not entirely certain about the status of that bug... My one weakness is that I have never played IWD... be it the original or EE. (Definitely my loss and I will have to rectify that situation eventually...)

It's a pretty good game, if you won't mind having a completely silent party (no Imoens in sight unfortunately, not even the teleporting ones ). Just make sure to have a healer on your party, or your in-game clock might count 2500 days before you're halfway into the game. Don't ask me how I know this. XP
