Flame/acid arrows don't kill trolls

I just got to the druid grove today and found that when the trolls fall down and are in thier "dying stage", flame/acid arows don't finish them off. Now, if I cast flame or acid arrow by my mage it works but the same type of arrows from anyone with a bow don't work. Is this a new rule in the enhanced version? Possibly a glitch? I played BG:2 back when it was realeased in 2000 and I distinctley remember all forms of flame/ acid arrows working them, not just magically produced ones. If it is a new rule for the enhanced version, it sucks. I also have SCS installed, so I don't know if that could be affecting this in some way either.

(Which is incredibly obnoxious and the reason I tend to stick to magic to finish them myself -- most notably having one mage run around in troll-infested lands with Melf's Minute Meteors ready is a wonderful tactic)
Are the arrows not damaging them or just not doing enough damage for a kill? Even in SCS they damage and @Quarz there is no saving throw against it.
Could be a bug
Using SCS
If you have some one that uses axes in your group then buying Stonefire at Copper Coronet would be the best option against early trolls. Sword of Flame sold in the Adventurer's Mart would also do the trick.
I think most of the moderators would get that new badge... we ban around 10-25 spambots every day. I remember a day that I banished 20 spambots and there were more banished by other moderators...
Regarding the topic I have never seem it happen. I usually keep a stack of flaming arrows do deal with trolls just in case my wizards run out of fire spells. are you sure you're hitting the troll? You have a heavy penalty if you're too close.
