Boo's NPC Polls Part 4: Who's do you think is the Perfect Paladin? (or paladin-like character?)

Ok... totally cheating here. I count Mazzy as a semi-Paladin due to her personality and abilities, and Anomen can join the Order and Fighter/Clerics share some traits with paladins...
okay, I cheated, so sue me! If you disagree then simply don't vote for those options

As always, please vote and maybe share your reasoning, as I am eager to hear

Keldorn is my Obi-wan. He keeps me on the right path. He's also kick-arse powerful. He makes me want to be like him.

I already voted for Ano as a cleric, and he's not really a paladin, so, I didn't vote for him in this one.

I love Ajantis too, especially since you can get neither Keldorn nor Ano in BG1. I hate what they did to him in BG2. (I'm aware of the German mod that fixes that and puts AJ back in BG2, as he should have been, but it's got some stability issues in English, so I usually just accept the vanilla version.)

I hope people take Mazzy into consideration, but it makes sense not to. Could see it either way.
@BelgarathMTH there is an interesting Ajantis in BG2 mod that lets you save him and makes him a romance option. It has the typical mod NPC problem of making him the super star of the show (very unique quest) but was still quite entertaining for a bit (I never finished it, only did the first part). You may want to check it out.
I always found it disappointing that you could not explore the relationship between Keldorn and Ajantis, as the latter was supposedly the squire of our favorite grey-haired badass.

Paladins aren't really represented well in BG
Keldorn is closest to what I think a paladin would act like. Confident, Reliable, level headed and a capable warrior, but he really fumbles when it comes to family matters.

Ajantis: Closer to a squire than an actual paladin though I do like him because I think he's funny.

Anomen: Stereotypical self-righteous jerk. I only used him once, I had him for about 30 minutes before I tried recruiting Dorn, Didn't even give a second thought when my party chunked him.

Mazzy: A truer paladin has rarely been seen by the realms. But she's technically not a pally.

Unlike the druid poll (where I expected a landslide) I'm kinda shocked by the initial results. I thought Mazzy would be closer and that Anomen would get a respectable amount of votes.

I have more experience with Mazzy than Keldorn, so Massive Mazzy™ it is! Never had Ajantis along, though I do enjoy the insults you can fling at him. I remember thinking for a very, very long time that Anomen and Ajantis was the same character. "Wow, they sure improved his portrait A LOT. Shame he still has that shit attitude though."

That's why I like Keldorn, he is absolutely well written, I don't think the game van make me cry more than with Keldorn's ToB epilogue, I, I, I don't have words....
After Keldorn maybe Ajantis, he is very cool, slightly Lawful Stupid but he'll learn.

I would have vote for Mazzy if she would be a real paladin. I guess my next BG run will involve a Keeper and ignore class restrictions.

Mazzy would be my choice Fighter (and was when I answered that poll), so I'll opt for Keldorn. Only played through with him once though, and with Mazzy several times. He had a greater banter with Cernd though, so it isn't an unfounded vote for him

Mazzy is a real paladin where it matters most! Even Keldorn agrees!

It's a tie between Keldorn and Anomen for me. I voted Anomen because his backstory shows the struggles of becoming a paladin and what it means to be one. Compared to Ajantis, who is apparently a squire and a full paladin at the same time, Anomen as a dualed fighter/cleric makes more sense to me.

Keldorn won it for being able to leave my party forever and I feel good about making that choice.

Keldorn - just an amazing npc, personality and mechanics wise. Perhaps I should have left him with his family, but then I think my sorceress would lose the few marbles she had left without his wisdom.

Ajantis - even if he slowly drove my sorceress to lose many of said marbles by being party leader (Heeeeeeelm! Give me streeeeength!"...like a million times...)

Anomen - good mechanically, and an interesting character. Also an egotistical, sexist jerk and his "beard" looks funny!

Mazzy - such a sweet girl, and probably equal to Keldorn in the personality department. Just never found a place in a party for her yet.

Also - honourable mention for dear Aribeth. Still breaks my heart thinking of the poor girl

I've had an odd soft spot for Mazzy for some time. To me, she represented everything that was wrong with class/race restrictions. I am sure there are some paladins out there who arn't half the warrior nor half as strong or half as good as this halfling here. More then once I used EEkeeper to make her the class she deserves to be.

I still hope to discover a mod that adds a romance for Mazzy and a legit quest in the game that makes her a paladin. She also has a surprising amount of dialogue with other characters, though I find that the fact the game made a halfling use a short sword alittle racist.

Paladins strike me as d-bags, jerks, but righteous ones. Except for Viconia, Keldorn seems really nice and mentor-like to Anomen and the player, and clearly loves his family. Anomen is a tool and isn't a Paladin, but has qualities befitting of some and probably could pursue the path. Mazzy isn't a Paladin due to 2nd ed rules (Forgotten Realms didn't mind Halfling paladins when 3rd ed came out, so I wish she had been around then), and I voted for her for best fighter.
I find Ajantis to be the most--he truly hates evil, seems to have nothing else on his mind, is kind of a tool, and was mentored by the cool Paladin, Keldorn. To be honest though, all of the Paladin-esque characters are really cool now that I think about it--tough poll.
