It is a bit of an annoyance that so many effects which ingame are functionally identical have different names and require different immunities. Charm/Domination spring to mind, as do Stun/Hold.
*Edit* I know it's a holdover from PnP (and at least we don't seem to have Suggestion ingame), but it's an aspect that wouldn't be hard to streamline.
You could always go for a Cleric kit (probably Helm) dualed to a mage.
Dualing at 9/10/11 should get you the most relevant priest spells (do you care for level 7 spells?) for a long enough duration and level 10/11/12 mage is not too difficult to bridge. Late game it gets you faster to high level mage spells than a dual-class.

Ironically, stun and hold are two different things in the game despite they both have the identical effect. You can still be stunned but still have immunity against hold. Just put up the Shield of Harmony and walk into a Mindflayer lair. I hate the ambiguity in this game.
Another moot point: does anyone know if the effect of paralyzation is hold or stun? I know from experience that the demon paralyzation is hold. Also, it seems that the effect of Hold Person is different from the Hold from Bigby's Clenching Fist. Ravager is immune to the effect from the wand of paralyzation but not from Bigby's Clenching Fist.
@bbear Wand of Paralyzation is a stun effect, Bigby's Clenched Fist is a hold effect (mechanically Near Infinity describes it as "Hold Creature Type" rather than Hold Creature or Hold).
I'm not certain how or why Hold Person would be different than the fist though.
Which Ravager? There are two in the game. The one in the black pits 2 has a Ring of Free Action on which grants it immunity to a number of hold effects but it has no protection against Stun.

The Ravager at the Pocket Plane in ToB.
I think I got confused with Paralyzation. The demon Paralyzation is hold effect (my solo PC wore the Shield of Harmony and was repeatedly not affected by this Paralyzation.)
Yea while I can understand there being an argument for stun and hold being different things (stun being a stunned mind and hold being maybe magically held in place) it probably would be a lot easier for everyone if they were just one effect. Heck I wouldn't have even known what was up with the paralyzation if I didn't use Near Infinity, which just goes to show how confusing a description like "paralyzation" is.
Does SCS have an option to make Stun & Hold the same? Or was it that it makes the Ring of Free Action to protect against both? Does the 4th level Priest spell protect from both?
Stun OR Hold are both the most frequent game enders for my no-reload games. To this day I am not sure if I was protected right from them.
and based on this it looks like a lot of the things listed that used to provide stun immunity are given it because they had Free Action. So in those cases it wouldn't anymore. The Sword of Arvoreen gives it but its a Mazzy only item, the Greenstone Amulet would also protect against it. Minsc's berserk, berserkers enrage, and the barbarian rage all protect against it. The slayer form would also likely protect against it.

(I'm embarrassed not to know this...)
