Wand of Lightning Issue?

If I remember correctly in Vanilla BG clicking on an enemy with the wand of lightning uses a charge.

But with BGEE whenever I use the wand it shows a little number that counts down as I click. But my wand doesn't fire off a bolt.

I this a bug or something or am I just not using the wand correctly?

I've had that too. I pause the game and carefully click down till zero, making sure I don't move the mouse away from my target.

In BG1, the WoL had one bolt. In BG2 you could spread the charge out to (IIRC) 5 smaller bolts. I guess BGEE uses the BG2 version.

The smaller bolts aren't as powerful, but you'll be able to hit several targets at once, making it possible to kill many low level enemies with small bolts, or use all of the bolt charges on one bigger enemy.

Yeah you can discharge multiple smaller bolts with it now, actually quite powerful. Wand of frost is now a cone of cold btw, has a good area of effect. These wands are the new models popular in the Amnian region. :-)

If you click too fast, the game registers it as a double-click and cancels the action. The solution I've found, if you're using it on one target, is to move your mouse a little each time you click their target circle because the game won't register it as a double-click if the mouse is moving. I do it in a star-pattern.

If it is a case of it giving little bolts then you playing with any mods? I tried the wand in BGEE and all I got was the big bolt.

    *click* *circle* *sigh* *click*
But the "WHOAASH! FZZT! BZZ!" is so rewarding.

also my wand of frost is still just a line :( When I first got one, I was like, "aw, yeah!" and then it went "fwoosh brooort!" and I was like, "GET OUT!".

İn BG:EE wand of lightning is single bolt, frost wand is single line ice beam. In BG2:EE lightning has multiple bolts and frost wand does a cone of cold.

Yea that is how they worked in the original games as well. So I don't see this being the issue.

Wand of Frost is an odd one. In BG:EE it retains the properties it had in BG1 (that being a column effect similar to Aganazzar's Scorcher), whereas they give in the BG2 property of Cone of Cold in BG2:EE. Personally, I think this is a very intentional choice based off the fact that the BG1 style Wand of Frost is exceptionally powerful and - for me - was a key part of some of my big battle strategies.

Eh, well, that, and I don't have to worry about people getting hit by the cone.
Now my wand of frost in Labyrinth Lord... <3
