Help me to choose my new portrait

drumcoolerdrumcooler Member Posts: 239
I start my new run in BG2EE with my warrior/mage. I selected 4 images, if you had to choose, which would you rather have? I'm hesitating over the better portrait.

He is a true neutral elf, with a tendency to align with evil-aligned parties, created to be a melee fighter who casts a lot of spells quickly.

1- warlock1 2- warlock2 M 3- warlock3 M 4- warlock4 M

Why is the poll question in Italian?
Also, where did you get these? They're all pretty cool.
I voted for one, but it's very close with 3.

Depends on the character... #2-3 wouldn't suit a LG Diviner, for example.

I made the poll in italian section, after that i thought it would be better for this kind of poll to put it in international section and i edited it, i can't change the question language but i think the title is pretty clear.
My english is not so good, i haven't writtten and spoken english since i was at school :D

I usually get the images of my portraits at http://digital-art-gallery.com/ after that i resize them with photoshop. The site is very cool for portraits.

My PC is a true neutral warrior-mage, but i love evil party, created for melee fight.

Four seems the most elaborate without going overboard in my opinion. The idea of going around with skulls decorating your belt and people still treating you like a normal person would be a big far fetched to me, same thing with portrait two. Just a bit too flamboyant to be thought of as a normal person and thats generally how people react to you in game. I admit, one could also work so if I could also vote for one I would, but I went for the last one because I like armor.

1 would look weird on a miniature. 2 is exactly the type of portrait I particularly dislike, pretentious :P 3 isn't bad, but this whole necromancer feel, it pre-defines the character a lot and I'm not sure if that's what you intend for him. I like 4 because fighters/mages are usually shown as more mage-like, being a fighter is secondary, this one is different, therefore interesting AND after all, in BG2 you can get some armours that don't disable spells :]

I gotta get me some 'o dat armor in 2, doh.
Oh, good, @god agrees with me. Now you have to choose 1, or feel his wrath. :P

I'm sure to give him the Robe of Vecna to cast spells on himself very quickly (i just tried this kind of PC and he's a monster). With rings, bracers and other artifacts AC is not a problem and he can cast mirror image, blur, stone skin, improved haste and many other spells that make him quite invulnerable.

My pc is an elf, if i choose 4 i have to retouch his ear :D

4 is the kind of fighter/mage i play.
A fighter who can cast magic in the middle of a fight.

Thank u a lot! In just a few short hours many votes and many comments :D

My vote on 3 doesn't count, i choose it just to see the outcome of the poll. Even if 3 is ahead of the game, your comments tend me toward the 4th ( @Pibaro is my BG mentor and his vote counts double :D)

I haven't decide yet, keep posting and voting, your comments are what count in the end :D

    @Noon I don't know what MtG means, sorry :(

It really depends on they type of character you were playing, but I chose 1 because it could be any alignment/play style. I didn't want to pick 2 or 4 because it felt like they had too much armor on for my tastes. I think portrait 4 would be a sweet fighter/cleric pic, with the undead in the background especially.

    --Edit--
I just noticed you said a TN warrior/mage, with a tendency to align with evil-aligned parties, in that situation I would pick portrait 3, for what it's worth.

I like 4, though it lacks the all-important point ears. On the plus side, the armour looks similar to the elf male sprite wearing plate mail, from what I recall.

1 is a bit too... Pink? I don't know what to say. I'm not a fan of it, but I can't explain why.
2 looks like something from WoW, and no one wants that.
3 looks super evil. I'd believe he killed the Iron Throne leaders too, if I saw him wearing that.
4 is just bhaalin'. Tanky warrior wearing thick armor and casting spells, blade in hand. Just looks awesome.
Those're my opinions, but it looks like 3 is in the lead.

I think the best options are #1 and #4 (retouched). They're the only two that fit for an elf in my opinion. #2 is way evil looking which the character is not, and #3 is also pretty evil looking but what really disqualifies it is the facial hair, elves don't grow facial hair.

I think we have a winner. 3 is on top of the match. I wait another day and tomorrow the winner will be my new portrait :D

Four's pretty badass! I like robes, but it's really impressive when somebody can put together a Magic-User outfit that "pops" at the viewer (the Eredar from WarCraft take the cake for me...just these intricate cloaks and mantles and really garish jewelry!).

I picked 1) since 2) and 3) look too evil for a neutral character and 4) is wearing armor - a fighter/mage can't use armor and still cast spells.

    Wow it's a very close game :D

1 or 4. As was pointed out above, for you'd want to crop them for the righthand column of small portraits in-game.
