Yeah, it doesn't quite seem right in my head, but it's 9-11 damage per Dart, 4 Darts a round. I'm still debating on if I want my next Proficiency Point to go into making DG a GM straight away, or get her a second Pip in quarterstaff. I kinda need to see how much of a difference it's gonna make anyway as I can't find definitive rules on Grandmastery and what it actually gives, but I really need a break from the game before grinding through Chateau Irenicus again.
And BGEE is complete! Only got a few hits in on Saverok, but only needed to get a few. Accidentally pulled with Imoen whilst trying to clear the way with Wand of Fire, tanked with Ajantis whilst DG stood at the back throwing darts. She got a few early ones in on Saverok than got one or two in on the Mage to avoid annoying wipes, but thirty second later, Saverok was dead rather efficiently, with Ajantis on a single life. File transferred, now time to unwind before the sequel..
Grand Mastery will bring you one extra point of damage per dart, and an extra half attack per round. I went straight to GM with my dart-flinger as that was the character theme, but you have got a more varied set of abilities already, so may prefer the flexibility elsewhere. Suggest you pick up GM at 12 if not 9 though, so you can hit 5 APR (the max without improved haste) at 13.
I've been making my way through Chapter Two with no real mishaps, party is Dart Girl, Keldorn, Jaheira and Jan. I'm not sure quite where I am in terms of progress, but in terms of major sub-quests I believe I've got the Planar Sphere and the Five Flagons to do, and Umar Hills, along with a few of the shorter ones. Damage output is still good, though now the rest of the party are starting to gear up, you can definitely see the difference of playing a weaker weapon. However with no buffs, DG did just solo Firkraag after a few attempts. Man, there was a lot of lag during that fight...
Another update: Almost made it to Chapter 3! DG is starting to lag behind as everyone in the party has at least +4 Weapons, but her utility is fantastic. She's can solo a lich with no problems, and she's about to take on the Dragon in Watcher's keep. I'm a bit Antsy about this one as I barely scraped through Firkraag, but if I want that Staff of the Ram...
Man, I have got to try this someday. It must look hilarious throwing darts at 10 APR. I'm imagining a massive line of darts, slowly advancing onto their target before the first one ever hitting
Sadly, I am not sure it gets any better than the Crimson dart on the first floor of watchers keep. You can make a small supply of +5 darts, but they have a lifetime of only 24 hours so you will never build a large supply.
You have certainly progressed further than my dart flinger made it though, I'm probably about due to pick that game up again. Enjoying your posts, and look forward to hearing about your eventual triumph out the other end of the keep.
Yeah, the Crimson Dart and the ones from the cloak are the limit. Due to the Keep being a tad tougher than the majority of the rest of the level, it's got my favoured weapon as Quarterstaff right now, but I'm making the excuse that it's because I'm running it as a 4 man party that I'm having to use more powerful weapons than I should be, I'll be switching back to the dart for normal combat once I'm either done with the Keep or eventually tire of it. Just finishing the Final Seal before waiting to see how bad the last fight is, or possibly finishing chapter two. I almost wish I'd levelled up a little later for the more powerful poison, but still happy with what I have.
Demogorgon is little more than blood and ichor-everyone managed to tonk him pretty quickly, though everyone seemed to crit a hell of a lot. Like so many, I agree that physical reward would be nice, especially as now all my guys are getting now are HLAs-inevitably either Hardiness or Enhanced Whirlwind. I'm now debating how badly I want to do Neera's quest, or if I just go straight on through to Bodhi and the endgame and onto TOB. The sooner I can finish, the sooner I can remove these games and have a break and play something different.
I did it! This ru through taught me that it would be awesome if The Crimson Dart was a +5 Weapon, and to be honest, I don't think it would be broken if it was. Grinding out cloak darts is too much of a pain, and +3 weapons simply aren't enough-for a large portion of TOB I ended up using Staff of the Ram. Think the game would've been a bit easier if I'd remembered that defeating Yaga Shura loses you access to certain shops, but my team of Jaheira, Keldorn and Jan worked really well together. Now I'm working on restarting my Solo Bounty Hunter run and Kensage run.
