Create Yourself In The BG World!
This is a completely pointless just for fun thread where you make yourself a BG character! How in-depth you want to go is up to you, but I'm putting out class, race, alignment, stats, and weapon proficiencies for myself. I'll provide written justification for my abilities, but you don't have to if you don't wish.
Want to know what your real life ability scores are? http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/terragf/back/xstattest.html
Here's a test, courtesy of @SCARY_WIZARD
For the rest of it, choose what you believe you would be. Rules are (for the most part) ignored here. If you want to make an illegal class combo, go for it! I won't restrain you. For weapon proficiencies, you have the same number as the class you are would have. Also, a note for rangers. You can rearrange your two dual wield pips. I don't see that as a requisite of being a ranger, but if you have more proficiencies, then take them instead!
So here I am. We'll go with my screen-name, since it is actually elven, like my character. (Tolkien elven, I believe)
Elrandir:
Class: Ranger/Bard Multi-Class: I'm both a musician and an Eagle Scout. I know how to survive in the wilderness, and sing or play a catchy tune. I lack some of the charisma of a traditional bard, and I lack a lot of the rangers constitution, but I'm not too shoddy.
Race: Half-Elf: I'm a little thinner than most people and I'm not the tallest guy around. (although I think I'm taller than most half-elves) I also am more quick fingered and quick witted than some people, both of which are traits I associate with elves. But I'm definitely not a full blooded elf. I'm too humanly average.
Alignment: Chaotic Good: I hate being told what to do, even if I may obey all the laws and regulations of life. So I'm kind of chaotic and lawful, but we'll just say chaotic. As for good? I am. I'm a good guy. Not too much to explain there.
Stats/Abilities:
STR: 9
DEX: 13
CON: 10
INT: 12
WIS: 10
CHA: 11
Weapon Proficiencies:
Long Bow * (I know how to shoot a bow.)
Axe * (I've used axes a lot, both for chopping wood, and for throwing tomahawks.)
Mace * (I've trained with steel maces in the past, so I'm accustomed to their heft)
Dagger * (I've used knives. A lot. I've even used throwing knives some as well.)
Single-Weapon style * (Most of the times I've used these "one handed weapons", I've used them with two hands. And that's how I see the effect of this weapon style taking place)
Dart * (I've played darts. Many times. Simple enough)
So there I am as a character from Baldur's Gate! What about you?

Description: A self-described 'whimsical mess', BLACKLAKE claims to hail from the borderland of Rashemen, although his mannerisms are an amalgam of those from cultures both extant and extinct. When asked about his past, Blacklake he admits he was born from a Grey Orc Shaman and a Rashemi Man, although he has no patience for elaborating further. Trained from a young age to be a Cleric of Gruumsh, Blacklake eventually found himself in a delicate situation after his mother was slain by the Witches of the Land - forced to lead his tribe but with no experience on leadership and dim clerical powers, he sought to compensate these deficiencies by studying the so-called 'forbidden' magics the Witches wielded; eventually, however, his façade of divine prowess fell out and he was exposed as an arcanist, and as such, was exiled from his tribe to be hunted by those whose powers he stole. Forsaken by his God and tribe and on the aim from the Wychlaran, he realized leaving the land of Rashemen would be his only salvation. He surprisingly refuses to reveal his methods of accomplishing such a task, only mentioning that he bore indignities that tore his mind into the fragmented state it is now.
Now on the service of Ilmater, Blacklake struggles to find a purpose in the midst of all the flagellants, hermits and monks who would see his more scholarly pursuits as heresy. Torn between leaving behind his own suffering or reveling in it, it is clear BLACKLAKE struggles with feelings of both worthlessness and arrogance towards those he deems 'inexperienced' in the harshness of life, although his actions seem to agree with neither of these ideologies: a scholar at heart, BLACKLAKE seeks to enlighten himself through knowledge as well as transmitting it to others, particularly those who hold no resources to achieve such information.
So.
Winters, meaning, some impossible version of me.

Human, probably, but possibly some thiefling-like creature. Not short or tall, fat or thin. True Neutral, but not indifferent, let's call it a tendency to counter(strike) everything. Might also be interpreted as CG. A few Ranger levels, due to actual skills and experience, some Mage and some Sorcerer levels. As I previously mentioned, there has to be more to magic than just memorizing the same stuff over and over again; it needs a spark, a stroke of genius or two, or maybe three, tons of inspiration, aftertaste of discovery and even more secrets - but also intellectual effort. Sorcerers' magic is dull because of lack of the latter, so I choose middle ground.
Proficiencies: Light crossbow ** (but I still prefer rifles), Dagger *** (you have no godsdamn' idea how useful wallpaper cutters really are), Scimitar * (I did some fencing; there's no perfect equivalent for my weapon of choice though), Words ***** (because reasons).
STR: 10 (probably average for someone my age)
DEX: 15 (slender, agile, innate "talent" at ball games that require quick reflexes, I like making detailed drawings)
CON: 11 (slightly above average for having survived a deadly disease, healthy diet, but stamina neglected)
INT: 14 (above average but nowhere near genius, especially lacking in creativity)
WIS: 15 (common sense, search for truth; stat I invested in most, through study, meditation, behavioral analysis)
CHA: 13 (generally well-spoken, considered relatively attractive having been compared with the likes of Jim Morrison and Jesus Christ more than once, but shy and introverted and by no means a commanding leader)
I think my slender build and my features combined with my sensitivity, my aloofness and my love for nature could make me an elf, though I don't shave frequently. I know elves have high minimum stats, but as you can see in the above stats, I don't consider myself a superhuman compared to others.
Dex and Wis should definitely be my prime stats, the former innately, the latter because of my interests - makes Cleric/Thief an obvious choice. I'm more partial to the Buddhist idea that divinity and truth are found and cultivated in oneself than to the Judeo-Christian and Muslim concepts of an external force that decides over us and sets the rules in holy books (though I respect their messages), and I believe that divinity is vested in everyone (and everything) and can be felt by dominating the ego. For that reason I picked Corellon Larethian because he's the creator of the elven race, and Elves have his essence within them.
As a thief I'd focus on MS/HiS, Detect Illusions (good eyes), and perhaps Pick Pockets. I'd be a scout, observer, informant, not a mechanical thief.
I picked Chaotic Neutral, but with clear tendencies toward good.
Chaotic because I consider democracy a joke and don't feel myself in any way represented by any government. I can't see how checking a box on a ballot once every four years gives a small (heavily lobbied) elite the right to pour out a cartload of laws and regulations over me. A form of tyranny imo. I also don't have a strong personal code, and rather deal with problems on a case-by-case basis.
Neutral because I try to be as non-judgmental as I can and because I've come to embrace the idea that it's often best to let things be rather than to impose one's will (as good-intenioned as it may be). I tend to leave things to karma rather than to intervene, though when I can help other people I'm likely to do so.

Wild Mage/Wild Druid! YEAH!!
(my abilities are based on meagloth's first test give or take a point or two in each ability)
strength: 12 (is kinda meh, but I can do things with perseverance)
dexterity: 13 (I kinda thought this would be better but whatever)
constitution: 16 (I don't get sick much)
intelligence: 18 (My condition makes me a genius)
wisdom: 16-18 (I have insights from my condition)
charisma: 10 (Said condition ruins my charisma)
Neutral Good I strive for good above all else. Laws are ok some of the time, but many are nonsensical and bad/evil.
I dunno race. Probably not human (even IRL I tend to think of myself as human only biologically). Elf?
I could do clubs and staves. I actually have a very pretty and gnarled piece of wood I call "The Cudgel"
Class: Probably a mage, spend too much time studying weird esoteric subjects. Definitely a generalist, I spread myself thinly due to curiosity on numerous subjects.
Alignment: True neutral. I consider myself a centrist in most things. For me, the truth rarely lies in extremes.
STR: 11 (just ever so slightly above average)
DEX: 9 (not very flexible or agile, though I'm working on this)
CON: 14 (can take a lot of punishment and pain, but don't have great stamina)
INT: 16 (everything I read on intelligence seems to contradict everything else, so this is a random guess)
WIS: 14 (a score of 14 allows me to be open minded and somewhat insightful, but also understand how ignorant I really am)
CHA: 10 (look better than some, worse than others; neither a leader nor a follower)
Proficiencies: Daggers (I was actually in a knife fight once) and darts (I can use darts which is more than I can say for just about any other weapon in BG).
That was fun, I should put myself into more games. How about Dark Souls. I have the choice between: dead, dying or in pain and dying. Maybe not.
Heres me.

I scored pretty decently. Not as good as my BG elf though lol.
No mods, no challenges, just fun So please, meet the crew!
Elrandir:
I went for plain Ranger, as there's no Bard/Ranger multi option. The stats are higher than his given stats, but that's because of the minimum stats for Rangers. I gave him all the weapon proficiencies he mentioned (and redistributed the two pips in dualwield).
Demented Eisbar Tresset:
We had three Mages, so I combined Demented, Eisbar and Tresset into one and took their best stats, went for Half-Elf and TN because two of them are, and for Wild Mage to accommodate Tresset (who had to give up half his name as it didn't fit). Weapon prof: Staves.
Meagloth Winters:
Again, a combination of two predominantly sorcerer types. Same routine: best of stats, CG (both are), again Half-Elf (one normal build plus one very slim), and proficient in daggers (because meagloth didn't mention any, and Winters is apparently pretty good with daggers). I went with Dragon Disciple since I never played one... and giving up one spell in such a arcane-heavy party schouldn't matter too much.
Loub Blacklake
Just followed Loub's decriptions here. Staves and clubs.
Korethil (yours truly)
Cleric/Thief with focus on Stealth (later Pickpockets + Detect Illusions). If I play true to my above description, I'll have no Detect Traps and no Lockpicks, which means we'll have to rely on Knock and Find Traps spells. I went for Clubs and Slings.
Jack-Jack Romani
Exactly conform description, weapons: Daggers and Crossbows.
A very caster-heavy, squishy crew, but we'll see how we fare...
I won't be posting extensive journals, and will probably allow some cheese.
Don't forget to report um, our progress!
Haha, that is awesome!
Once the clerics hit level 5, I'd suggest filling their spell lists with Animate Dead, and once I hit level 5 as a wizard, Melf's Minute Meteors, for I am squishy.
Also, I must say I quite like the portrait you picked for my character. Not that it looks anything like I do, but I am fond of it.
It would even be more awesome of course we could actually multiplay the game... But I thinks that'd be superdifficult to arrange.
I I got my way I would have:

'Tis for that kind of people I am glad I've forsaken my humanity.
That was a joke.
@meagloth, nice party as well! Relatively caster-heavy as well. Joe the Garrick-style CN Thief sounds like a fun dude.
But rest assured that while you are playing with each other I'll be playing with myself!
That was a joke.
O_o
I would be interested in multiplayer if I can play just me, though I'm on the iPad, I don't know if the versions are together yet. I tried to play cross platform yesterday with bg2:ee Mac App Store and iPad and it didn't take
@meagloth, ah that would be a shame... I've never played multiplayer, I guess it should be lots of fun.
