problem with guards

hello all
recently i looted a chest and the guards appeared, but accidentally instead of loading my quicksave, i did quicksaved!
at that moment only my thief was in the location in question, which made me able to escape in shadows without alerting the guards.
but i need to do some quest in that location and i dont want to lose any reputation.
so now what is the solution to this?
thanks in advance for any advice given.

    Sleep, Web, etc. Also if you have the Quick Save untouched, load it. If you save after the guards are called but before they arrive, loading that save will cancel the alert.

    @Zyzzogeton
    i have saved after appearance of the guards and before they reach me and initiate conversation.
    then i got out of that area in stealth and quicksaved again.
    if i speak with them, i am going to lose reputation

    @bengoshi
    this trick did not work for me!
    i am currently out of the location in question and not spoken to the guards yet.
    i did rest 8 hours and more than 8 hours without speaking to the guards and this did not work.
    i also spoke to the guards with my thief, which net me -1 reputation, then i hide in shadows and escaped the fray in stealth, and rested for another 8 hours (also rested for several hours) and after coming back, they were still there!

    any other solution?

    Hmm where did this happen, what quest do you need to return to the crime scene for?
    In most situtations, entering again with your thief (stealthed or invisible), doing the necessary talking to complete your queset, and quaffing a potion of invisibility would do the job. If desired use a potion of speed (or the boots of speed or the haste spell) to make it even more difficult for the guards to reach you.
    However if you need to do perform more actions than simply talk, you might want to @Zyzzogeton's advice: use a spell such as Web or Sleep, or Hold Person with a Cleric. You could also have your warriors take on the guards with their bare fists, knocking them out but not killing them. You can then attend to your business and leave.

    What Bengoshi suggested usually works, however I have had the same problem as you once or twice. I'm not sure why but it always resolved itself in time. Maybe you have to leave the area completely and come back rather than just resting at a location in that same area.

    yeah, you are right. this time i did rest six times and then returned to the crime scene but pesky guards were not there!

    @Blackraven
    this specific quest involves fighting and killing the target in a tight interior, so it was more than simple talking.

    thanks to everyone who replied specially to @elminster which has been very helpful to me. :)

    Yea the guards have become way too persistent. I think they should have it at at most a day lol.
