Charr'Neim the semi-random sorceress. A BGEE SCS playthrough

Hello folks!
Just recently finished my trilogy no reload run with David the Gnome. Next step is to try SCS, which most people say is to Baldur's Gate what abstinence is to safe sex: The best way to go.
I certainly hope BG with SCS is a more enjoyable solution, though.
The rules for the playthrough are as follows:
- Minimum reload (only if charname dies)
- Possibility of random spells as follows:
- Each time the sorceress learns a new spell, I roll a d20+level charname+CHA modifier.
- Difficulty is 15+level of the spell
- CHA modifier is like TO HIT modifier (+1 at 17, +2 at 18)
- For Charr'Neim, that gives a 35% chances of choosing spells at level 1. That increases up to 85% at level 18 for Lv9 spells. A 1 is always a failure.
- This is supposed to represent how the sorceress is able to control and shape her powers more accurately, the more powerful she becomes. Might not be the best system, but I haven't come up with something better
- Choice of random spells:
- Charr'Neim is able to cast spells due to Bhaal's Essence. Therefore, every time she has to choose a random spell, she will first choose at random Necromancy spells.
- If no necromancy spells left for that spell level, then the choice will be random
- As the Bhaal essence is the one responsible for the spell casting, she will not cast spells from Spellhold to Hell in BG2. That will be interesting as it is a big chunk of the game. I guess I will finally find a use for all those scrolls that are lying around.
Charr'Neim:
She is a 92 points elf sorceress (got that after 2-3 minutes of re-rolling. I could have settled with much less)
STR 7
DEX 19
CON 16
INT 15
SAB 17
CHA 18
Proficiencies: Darts (from playing in Candlekeep's tavern with Imoen)
Spells known: Chill touch and Larloch Minor's Drain. Yes, she failed both rolls. Given her strength/proficiencies, I already see a spell that is likely never to be used
Special powers:
- Foresee her own death. As a Bhaalspawn, she has gained the rare ability to emulate her Father's foresight. She will see her possible death in the near future and take the necessary steps to avoid it (AKA: Infinite reloads if she dies. Will probably need it with SCS installed)
Alignment: True Neutral (I am not a big fan of the alignment system, I have to say)
Personality: A charming individual with clearly a talent for diplomacy and leadership, Charr'Neim has always been fragile, even if she never seems to get sick. A smart kid from when she was barely a toddler, Gorion's tutelage has made her become very wise for her young age and eager to learn of what transpires outside the walls of Candlekeep. Trustworthy as only people who have never been betrayed can be, she knows how to get out of harm's way and the right things to say to avoid trouble and make friends. She is eager to go on her trip with Gorion (whom she loves dearly) and see the world.
Evolution: Well, she will be very careful after the first night. Not sure how she will evolve, personality wise. We'll see. Haven't decided who her companions will be either. At least another mage as this is SCS
Storytelling:
My plan is to make it a bit more fun than David's. First section will be RP: quotes from books or people that have known her and tell about some parts of her adventures. Second section will be gaming: explaining my experience with SCS and where I am in the game
Well, hope you guys enjoy it if you get to read it :-) Will be probably asking lots of SCS questions too

However, with her physical development came also the strange powers. Few suspected it at the time, but her divine ascendance gave her a pathway to many abilities some considered to be…unnatural. Soon after the first incident, the rumours started circulating and out of Gorion's control, they reached far beyond the monastery's walls. Charr'Neim, oblivious to the rumours continued her learnings with her foster father, and her training to control the essence's powers. That was before the dark times... Before Sarevok.
I still remember the stormy night where Gorion died. I can only imagine how that experience changed Charr'Neim, until then totally protected from the world's harm, and shaped the path she would undertake in the following months, stealing Sarevok's self appointed destiny of Godhood. Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony"

resurrected Wolf near Gorion's corpse. Roughly translated as "That stupid Imoen had to start bothering me. And it is my fault if I try to kill her? Humans."
"Heya! So, yeah, that first day. Crazy, huh? First that stupid wolf. Then, we meet those two crazy folks that wanted to "help". After that, we walk until like what, midnight? I think Charr'Neim didn't want to stop and think what had happened to poor Gorion. So, yeah, we arrive to the Friendly Arm Inn and that wizard, what was his name... Tartish? so, yeah, that moron casts a spell... And they both fall conveniently asleep? I don't know whether they were in league with him or not, but we had to get away from them just in case. "

Well, just did a quick first day. Tarnesh surprised me with his sleep spell that affected both montaron and Xzar. Charr, Imoen, Eldoth and a guard killed him afterwards. Funnily enough he spent several rounds hacking at Montaron with his staff, instead of throwing spells. I play at core difficulty. Do they become smarter at higher difficulty? That would be a bummer. I like playing in core rules :-(
Other than that, he casted a glitterdust, but no direct damage spells. It was a bit strange. Is that normal behaviour?
I really like the idea! Hope she does not die!

all the luck
It would be good to see a Charr'Neim's selfie, I think;)

"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Bhaalspawn, at last we will have our revenge reward"
- Famous last words from Karlat the Bounty hunter after spotting Charr'Neim from the window of the Red Sheaf Inn and downing his ale.
"I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe... Attack ogrillons on fire from a spell of Gorion. I watched protection from evil spells glitter in the dark near Baldur's Gate. All those... moments... will be lost in time, like Jaheira... in... a city. Time... to die..."
- Khalid after being struck down by Karlat
"Yeah, it was a touching speech... And quite ackward between him and Jaheira when we resurrected him at the temple half an hour later. Last words are overrated, you know. They went back to report something to those harper folks soon after and rejoined just before Irenicus... Poor Khalid would have been better off staying dead that first time"

Ok, so cleared the FAI area, the area south of the FAI, killed the spiders, talked to Marl, etc, etc.
Died twice already. First one against Karlat. I had expected to be able to lure him out of the inn, but I guess SCS has made enemies not move between zones as in before EE. Maybe something to change? Not sure who does the SCS mod. Anyway, Karlat got me on a crit while I was running around the tables and some random commoner stopped me. That's what you get from being polite. Second time, Khalid tanked him and died. Decided it was too much for him and Jaheira so I resurrected him and booted them from the party.
Got Kagain and Tiax instead and went for Silke. Died again. Very clever use of the invisibility spell, I have to say. She took a while to cast magic misile, but when she did, it was over.
Second time, Tiax tanked with his ghoul and we overused the wand of magic missiles and Eldoth/Charr spells. She died easily as we interrupted her invisibility.
Other than that, Eldoth has decided that after three days, there is too much killing for him so I have booted him and got Garrick instead.
Slow progress :-)

Edit: Still waiting for the selfie.
Selfie is on the pipeline!
The speed of the run doesn't matter, the quality of story-telling is amazing. I like it, it's fresh.
And, you'd better say: the rest is mainly movie quote mutton-mongering riff-raffs
I was going to post that I liked Eldoth's entry into the party, but I see you went for Garrick which is fine as well. Very nice to read bits of your party members involvement and views.
May the force be with Charr'Neim!
It will be a slow run as I have limited time, and this non descriptive way of writing about it will allow me to keep up with the story telling, I hope.

"A word to describe her? Eerie. The way she foresaw ambushes and dangerous situations was uncanny. Never trusted her. But she was good at sharing the magical loot so I had that goin' for me, which was nice"
- Kagain
"Staring at the bottom of your glass
Sometimes Gorion was a pain in the ass
But now he is dead, there's no time for cries.
You see him when you close your eyes
Maybe one day you'll understand why
Everything you touch surely dies.
Well, you only need a bard when you are feeling low
Only miss the sun with vampires, you know
I can make you happy if you have a go"
- Half composed ballad found in Garrick's dead body. He might have had a crush on her.
"Yes, very violent entrance into the real world we had... I wonder sometimes how our life would have been if our Father was Dyonisus the Drunken God instead of Bhaal. I am certain the Sword Coast would have appreciated it. Think of the parties! Sarevok, the Five... Oh my, the opportunities there. But no, we were Children of Bhaal. Our life since that very start was about Death, Death and Death. Pure adrenaline. Oh well, it could have been worse. We could have been on the losing team"

Died in a bandit ambush. Didnt even have time to get invisible, they all fired at Charr. Anyway, new reload :-)
Killed Bassilus (easy to interrupt) and transformed Melicamp. Charr is at level 4 and has been able to choose Magic Missile and Multiple image (made both rolls). Other that that, I have cleared all the maps where there is a quest from beregost (except cloackwood) and now I will save dritzz and go to nashkel. Garrick died against a single hobgoblin. It was so pathetic that I left him there. Quite useless. Now going around with Kivan, hopefully the timer is long enough...
Btw To keep reloads to a minimum, Invisibility 15' Radius is your friend. I've used it pretty much all the time in my current run (thanks to Familiar and Dynaheir as Sorcerer). Another option would be the level 2 spell Invisibility and cast it on your vulnerable party members including yourself. Very recommendable if your randomized spell picks allow you to pick a level 2 or 3 spell.
Might choose invisibility next. Multiple image seemed more versatile :-) for now, she will have to rely on her foresight :-)
Lets see if i can today or tomorrow write an update. Have gone to save dinaheir and all related areas
I, Tethtoril, disagree. For Tiax the Mad Cleric travelled with her, probably as a spy for his Mad God, and was unharmed. Furthermore, at that early stage, her mind was still not corrupted by her Father's influence. The nightmares, however, had already started. And they would only get worse."
- The rise of the new God of Death, by Tethtoril
"I remember the speech of that pretty lass as if it was yesterday. Driving us to fight those yapping demons in the lower levels: "Sons of Nashkell, of Beregost, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me." she said. It was convincing! "A day may come when the courage of Miners fails. When we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day!"
Well, it was the day for poor Joseph, let me tell ya. After that, we all run away from the place like chickens without heads. Not Joseph, of course. Although he got the without head part right."
- Miner Beldin, shaking his head.
Tell me, Mr. Mulahey. What good is a casting ability... If you are unable to speak?
- Tiax, the Mad Cleric
"Who would have thought she had the whole "I am Death incarnate" in her? She helped Brague out of his curse. Saved that southerner from the Gnoll encampment to the West. Liberated the mines and saved the town. She also seemed like a good girl, always polite and smiling. Some priest of Helm I am, huh?"
- Nalin of Nashkell
"The mines... Yeah, that was rather funny. That half-orc guy literally shitted his pants when he saw us. One would think a half-orc to be tough and all, but there he was, like a little kid scared of momma. Thought we were Tazok minions. Charr just sweet talked him long enough for me to backstab the poor babbling idiot. Oh, those were the days. Now I can just destroy anything with a snap of my fingers. It really takes the fun out of it. You know what else takes the fun out of things? That Xan guy. Although if I had been captured by that lot, I guess I would have needed therapy too"
- The Imoen Inteviews, By Volo
---------------------
OK, done the mines. Mulahey was easy, surprisingly enough. Nobody died, although most were at 10-15% health. We are all Lv4 which helps, I guess. It started very bad. He charmed Kivan (he has 50% of my kills), but a silence spell from Tiax and two sleep charges (that affected Kivan!!) ended the battle. It was just killing the cleric and cutting sleeping throats.
So far so good- I just know I will die miserably against any mid level mage. Have recruited Xan to make sure I dont get over optimistic :-)
