The Ultimate HLA: "Plot Device"

This fiendish Major Artifact appears to be employed by so-called "Developers" (extra-planar beings that have supra-causal connections with the way reality unfolds) to forge the destiny of the Hero.
It is said the sage Gorion fell not under the blade of the Villain, but rather the extra-dimensional powers of... Plot Device.
[Everytime I start the game, I expect the Big G to maybe *win* this time around and walk with me to the Friendly Arm. Well, maybe next time...]
It is said that the Villain's exact moment of death is similarly shaped by this high level ability.
[What if you just killed Koveras at Candlekeep and the plot reformed itself anew around you afterward in chapter 5?...]
Let Sages of the Ages document the passing of this mysterious Device through our fold of space & time in the Planes.
[Every contributor bringing in a use of Plot Device will be given a plot-cookie. (*)]
(*) Consider this like that episode of Doctor Who with the absorbaloff ("Love & Monsters") where a bunch of enthusiasts try to determine the Doctor's intervening hand across time and space by collecting his known acts.

Imagine a universe free of the Plot Device.
What if God has unplanned bugs left in Actual Universe (TM)?
For example, if you slap Ronald Reagan's ashes with a cucumber while reciting Bene Geserit litany of fear the Universe crashes, requiring a restart, whereupon we reset back to the Fall of Troi from scratch.
And, that movie inspired BG2's main plot.
"You shall suffer. You shall all suffer."
(which is then ensured later in the movie by the use... Plot Device.)
