So, World Cup is on my mind these days, as I'm sure it is on a lot of others.
So lets make a Baldur's Gate NPC starting XI!
We can do lots of things.
-One team with all joinable NPCs, one with all non-joinable.
-Good NPCs vs Bad NPCs
-BG1 NPCs vs BG2 NPCs
-All Elf XI vs All Dwarf XI?
-An all-shorty team?
Lets do this!
I'd like to humbly invite my dear friends and fellow enthusiasts @bengoshi @Dungeonnoob @Montresor_SP @Anduin @Blackraven @Qbert @element @Pibaro @Belteshazzar89 @TheElf to join in
I'd also like to troll two non-football fans for absolutely no reason @Metalloman and @meagloth . Let's also get @CrevsDaak in here because he's Crevs.

Haer'Dalis on the wing... Flashy in attack, useless in defence.
Edwin as sweeper, lying deep and pulling the strings.
Korgan & Kagain as midfield engine-room... Big tackles and lots of energy (high Con).
Keldorn & Valygar up front? Big-K as the target man, with Valygar nipping in behind (backstabbing)?
Keeper: Xzar. Keepers are all crazy mad, and he fits the profile. Also the spell Web would be helpful in this position Backup is obviously Garrick, since all backup keepers tend to be goofs
RB: Alora. Pickpocket the opposition and dextrous enough to put in a nice cross or two (Skie is back up)
Centerback 1: Kagain. A bit short but sturdy and clearly astute. Kind of like a dwarven Cordoba
Centerback 2: Minsc. Big and tall while also athletic. Probably prone to errors due to low wisdom and leading blindly on... he's our David Luiz. Make way villainy, clearance coming through! He's also the captain, due to his penchant for inspirational speeches.
Backups CBs: Yeslick, Viconia
LB: Imoen. She dextrous and probably pretty quick, which will get her up the field hugging the touchline. Good with a bow so she could probably give good service. (Safana backup)
Holding Midfield 1: Jaheira. Perfect pivot... not afraid to get in there with a Stoneskin or two, has the dexterity to get up and down the touchline and she has the wisdom and intelligence to be a reliable recycler of possession. And how useful would Entangle be in thwarting enemy attacks? Perfect
Holding Midfield 2: Shar-Teel. She's quick to get up and down the touchline... but also probably prone to getting sent off. If Jaheira is Xabi Alonso Shar-Teel is Nigel de Jong
Backup CDMs: Ajantis, Faldorn (shapeshift!) & Branwen
Right Wing: Kivan. Strong to help the diminutive Alora at the back and a great archer so clearly has some range on his passing. (Khalid is backup)
CAM: Coran. Dextrous, flashy style, very dextrous. Would use those skills nicely to blow by defenders, probably has a lot of tricks and probably a great passer with his high intelligence. His combo of good strength and dexterity means he can shoot as well. He's like a young Totti except not as godlike. (Backup is Eldoth... but he has a partying problem... kinda Ronaldnho like)
Left Wing: Xan usually, since he's dextrous and enchanting and probably a tricky customer. But his incredibly low constitution makes him a clear Arjen Robben and will miss 2/3 of every season, so his backup would be Monty. He probably dives a lot.
Striker: Dynaheir. Evokers are the centerforwards of magic. Edwin is her backup, but like Nicklas Bendtner he thinks he is the best striker in the world and should start. Silly Edwin.
The team is managed by Quayle since he's so smart.... but really, Tiax rules all! He's the *ahem* assistant manager but thinks he runs the club
They usually argue but the team is held together by the real manager, Boo, who takes care of the details
He even kind of looks like Pirlo...
Not the best motivational speaker however
He shall strike a ball deep into evil's net... there is no more worthy a cause.
- Vicky and Yeslick as centre backs perhaps, definitely somewhere in defense.
- Kivan as a free kick and corner kick specialist.
You're in big troubles.
Now I'll get a Football 4 dummies to understand what CAM and CDMs are...
@booinyoureyes You already know my idea of BG NPCs as footballers (from the Meme thread):
I think that a great magician like Edwin would be a perfect goalie - to me, in the BG world, the magic would prevent goals just like Stoneskin prevents getting hit and Edwin can have the biggest number of Stoneskins in the game.
I also think that a strong fighters like Minsk, Shar-Teel and Sarevok would be wonderful forwards - personally, I wouldn't like the thought of opposing such tough warriors with extra STR in an open field.
Kivan and Coran, to me, are ideal wingers: quick, accurate in passes and stealthy.
Ajantis and Dynaheir form a strong alliance in the center of the field: Paladin's Protection from Evil and Magic buffs/debuffs would cement this area.
Safana and Monty would be left- and rightbacks - stealthy and yet solid. And Safana would definitely play next to both Coran and Eldoth. This trio would certainly raise a few eyebrows.
As the last defender and a captain I would choose Branwen - the power of her will is immense. Her clerical abilities are what you need next to your goalie.
Goalkeeper: Shar-Teel. She has great Strength and Dexterity and is intimidating when she goes out to catch or fist away the ball, all of which is important for a goalie. She could also play defense but I'm a bit worried about her low Constitution. Sarevok would be a good alternative in this position.
Libero/Sweeper: Yoshimo. His high stats are suitable for a player who must be able to evaluate when he can advance with the ball, when he needs to stay back, and where he needs to position himself when under attack.
Central Defense: Korgan and Minsc. Two intimidating guys who will scare the hell out of the opposition's forwards and aren't afraid to go all-in to stop an advancing opponent. (Though I'm worried that Korgan may get too many yellow and red cards.)
Defensive Midfield: Sarevok. Another position where we need a huge, intimidating figure who can act in both defensive and offensive roles.
Wings: Montaron and Xzar. Not only are they both dextrous and reasonably strong, keeping them on either side of the field will also stop them from tearing each others' throats out. ;-)
Central and Front Midfield: Dynaheir and Imoen. Two positions where we need brains, not brawn. These two ladies will be good at finding weaknesses in the opposition's defenses and either passing the ball to a wing or forward or advance themselves as "hanging forwards". I imagine Dynaheir as the playmaker and Imoen as the hanging forward but they can swap roles when appropriate.
Forwards: Alora and Coran. I like the idea of a small and a big forward and both of them are highly dextrous players who can hide in shadows, get around the opposition's defense before either passing the ball to another player or taking a shot at goal. Alora also has the impish humor which can help the team's morale if things are going south.
Coach: Viconia. The coach should be able to plan a strategy and change it as the game progresses. Other choices are Edwin (better Intelligence) and Aerie (high Intelligence and Wisdom) but I am not sure the players would respect them. Valygar would be a good assistant coach for her, if they can agree to not rip each other's eyes out... at least until after the match.
First, make sure that the captain has lots of charm to deal with the referee. Given some of the officiating I've seen so far, I'd suggest that the captain have at least one Charm Animal Spell in his repertoire.
Second, make sure to load up on long-range skills in the midfield. Given the number of goalkeeper flubs and mistakes on long, slow shots, we could lucky.
Third, and most importantly, have a lot of resurrect spells at the ready, because our forwards need to have extra low HP in order to constantly go down in the penalty area.
