Sacred 3!
I thought I'd throw some love the way of Sacred 3, I can't be the only one looking forward to this one SURELY!?
While everyone is off talking about Pillars Of Eternity and Dragon Age: Inquisition let's hope this one doesn't get lost in the mass of no doubt amazing up and coming titles!!
Sacred 3 is out on August 5th in North American and August 1st in Europe. (God knows for the rest of us. )
Now, I've played a little of Sacred 2 and quite rather liked it. ARPG's are not always my thing but when they are, Sacred and Diablo are it.
From what I've been reading there will be a variety of classes including the new Safiri Warrior and Ancarian Lancers. Some places will apparently make a return, namely Castle Braverock. It will have 4 player co-op, if you're not online you'll get 3 AI companions each with unique abilities, both active and passive. You'll also be able to choose your own abilities which is great.
Anyways! It's not looking to bad! I've seen a few of you guys mention Sacred 1 & 2 (Namely @BelgarathMTH) so I thought I'd throw this out there for those that care!
It's not looking to bad either!

I'll read more about it when it's in release just to confirm, but if the pre-release information is correct, I won't be buying it, because it's not really a Sacred game.
Check out:

and other threads there. The Dark Matters forum has been the main place that Sacred and Sacred 2 fans have been hanging out for the past several years. It is similar to this forum for BG.
EDIT: Just found another good thread over there. Dobri was one of the community leaders, doing a lot of writing on our wikis, with drop chance guides and skill guides and that sort of thing. Apparently, the original devs are starting a new kickstarter in reaction to this awful thing, and some are asking people to donate their money to the new kickstarter rather than buying the so-called "Sacred 3".

Heh- apparently one reviewer said he'd give it a 7.5 based on the gameplay for what it actually was, but was downgrading it to a 0 because they called it "Sacred", which it is not.
I forgot about Ascaron bankruptcy, but anyway I don't know if I'll ever buy Sacred 3... seems too different from Sacred 1&2
Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable and also had impressive 3D graphics for its time, but it just felt like mindless, aimless fun - something to fool around with on occasion, but not something that I could immerse myself in over an extended length of time. It's the kind of game that reminds me of why I'm such a big fan of the BG series.
But like a lot of RPG sequels (including the BG and IWD sequels), I felt that Sacred 2 focused too much on improving the visual/technical aspects of the original game and sacrificed some of the more fundamental aspects of the original.
This post by Flix identifies all the characters:
"... Every character is there, and how they look, what they're doing, who they're interacting with/standing by, it's all just right.
The TG is understandably on his knees devastated since SX255 had the idea for the drawing. And his S1 counterpart the Dwarf, already being of that height, is consoling him.
The Wood Elf and Dark Elf, the couple from S1 take comfort in each other's embrace, while their kin the High Elf stands close with her little pet demon.
The Dragon Mage turns away while his little Familiar howls at the sky. The Dryad is in dress attire but still has a leafy hat and a shrunken head. She offers tissues to the Gladiator, who still refuses to don a shirt but at least manages a little bowtie.
The two symbols of Light and Shadow stand at center. The Seraphim heads up the service and reads a passage while the Inquisitor stands stoically next to her with head reverently bowed.
The Daemon consoles the Battlemage, somewhat sensually I might add. Maybe a "celebration of life" is in order later that night.
The Shadow Warrior, the strongest and already dirty with graveyard soil, has the gravedigger's duty.
And the Vampiress stands aloof holding her parasol to keep the sun's rays off of her.
Just great work."
I'm paying my respects by replaying Sacred 2. And, I'm having a blast. Sacred 2 has a permanent place on my all-time favorites list.
