Charset conversion on OS X

Does iconv come as a standard part of OS X? If not, which is the preferred method of installing it for an end-user who knows nothing about this and who would describe him/herself as "computer illiterate LOL!"? And/or, can iconv be had in a form that is amendable to being included in a mod in a stand-alone-ish fashion? (Otherwise this is going to suuuck.)

From the work done on the BG1 NPC beta, which uses iconv at install time, I understand that iconv is included in Mac OS X. @AstroBryGuy‌ fixed an issue in the script used for the conversion on Mac OS X and can probably give details about the test conditions.

iconv is part of the UNIX specification. So it should be available on all Unix-like systems, including OSX and Linux.

The addition I made to the script was to add the -c command-line option for iconv. This tells iconv to skip invalid characters instead of stopping with an error (which leaves an incomplete .tra file).
