Trying to create a new swashbuckler and can't put more than one proficiency slot into any skills. It appears to be patch-related.

    seems to be the same for Blades; at least concerning two weapon style, as they can only place one slot in to begin with.

    Definitely working as designed. Warriors can specialise at first level, all other classes have to wait.

    Was this a change for the patch? I don't see it listed. How many levels do I have to wait?

    I was able to do it before the patch. How does the new system work and when can I specialize? I don't want to go through an entire new playthrough just to find I have a broken character.

    Details on what levels extra points are available for you @bamojdre‌

    A swashbuckler can assign 1 point at level 1 to two items, i.e. * short sword and * two weapon style.
    At 5000xp / level 4 they get a 3rd point.
    At 70000xp / level 8 they get their 4th point, the total for BG1.

    They can spend these points as below (bracketed points cannot be selected at the start).

    *(**) in 2 weapon style
    *(*) in long sword, short sword, katana, scimitar, dagger, club, quarterstaff
    * in anything else

    Thanks for the explanation. My concern was that it was a bug but I see its not the case.
