    Hi @thespace‌
There appear to be various ways to disable or restrict hot corners but from what I could see this either involves diabling hot corners entirely, scripts you have to run or holding a key down while mousing over the corner when wanting to activate them. None of which might suit you.

@Dee are you aware of this changing?

On an MBP (Circa 2007, OSX 10.8.5) running BG 1.2.0 I have my upper Left Corner set to enable my screen saver and the upper right corner enabled to open my launchpad.

BG 1.2.0 Does NOT have these enabled by default. I can move my mouse cursor up either to the left or right without issues.

BGII (Fully Updated) also does NOT experience this issue.

I can confirm, however, that BG1: v1.3.2053 does, indeed, re-enable the hot corners/OS hooks. I'll open a bug report on it.

Issue #9531 has been opened for this functionality. Whether this is considered a bug or an intended / enabled feature I cannot say. I have also verified that additional software other than BG1 is affected as well.

    Thanks for the Bug Report!

It's not, it's been accepted as a bug. Have no fear, it will get fixed as updated patches come through things.

Looking at it more closely, this is actually working as per the standard for full-screen apps in Mac OS, but the change should have been documented in the patch notes.

You can disable hot corners in your system settings.

The ticket was approved as having excellent repro steps, but the issue itself is working by design with Mac OS's current implementation of hot corners.

I second thespace's concerns. i wrote a post about it on 2 september in the bgee forum but no one responded so i thought it was something weird with my computer.

the game mechanics make triggering hot corners when scrolling the map much more likely than in most other applications. additionally, the mouser cursor inside BGEE stays frozen in position when hot corners trigger, meaning bringing the game back up instantly triggers the hot corner again. I have screen saver and sleep as hot corners and had several instances of wildly flailing my mouse the instant BGEE came back up trying to move the mouse cursor before the hotcorner triggered again. This loop was quite annoying. I disabled hotcorners but re-enabled them b/c they are quite useful. i stopped playing this game due to the annoyance of having to disable hotcorners in order to have a reasonable game experience.

this is a serious impediment to fun that i do not experience in any other applications. disabling hotcorners for the entire computer in order to run one application does not sound like the best solution. disabling hotcorners while in bgee like it is in 1.2 and bgee2 sounds much better. adding a toggle switch along the lines of diable mac osx commands while in game would be okay too.

I humbly request a rethink on this one.

That's a separate issue, and definitely one that we can address. The use of hot-corners is an Apple standard, though.

You can still use the middle mouse button or two-finger pan to move the viewport, which is actually more intuitive on Mac than the edges of the screen.

Why are you being insistent on adhering to the O/S standards? The product is a game! It shouldn't care at all about O/S standards :/

I miss games using custom installers (Red Alert 2 anyone?) etc. too :/

I have a non-mac mouse and after trying, the middle mouse button map scroll is not a better option for me.

Dee has this already been added to the bug tracker list or should i write up a ticket?

P.S. i'm not exactly sure which issue you are saying, "we can definitely address" to, so if you want me to write a ticket would you please let me know what issue i should add to the ticket?

with the patch for bg2ee being worked on i would hate for this to slip into that game as well.

The issue I was referring to was the one where you minimize the game with a hot corner, but if you click on the thumbnail in the dock to restore it you lose mouse focus. That hasn't been ticketed yet, so if you can write it up that will let us take a closer look.

If you're feeling extra ambitious, it would also be worthwhile to write up a feature request to pause the game when it's minimized that way.

The hot corner behavior is the same here as it is in a number of natively supported apps, and will likely not change. It's also the reason why the keyboard shortcuts for minimizing or full-screening the game follow Mac OS standards.

    Thanks for the reply Dee.

Okay well if this will not change i will recommend to anyone who sees this thread in the future that you set up the hotcorners to function while holding a key such as ctrl or shift. this seems to me to be the best work around if you still want to play this game while scrolling the map with the mouse cursor, and not be tempted to throw your computer out the window every few minutes.
