Steam version crashes

My steam copies of BG 1 & 2 fail to start up. Anyone know a fix?

    Give us more details. Is it updated to the latest version? Is there an error message? What is your computer's configuration?

    It'll update to the latest version when install it again. No error message it just quits running after after i hit play.

    What happens when you turn off the Steam overlay (preferences -> in-game -> uncheck "enable the steam overlay while in game"? I recall that being known to cause crashes.

    Unchecked it but game still doesn't want to run. Thanks for the suggestion though.
