Thanks to the combined work of Nightfarer (translation) and Gertwenger (review), the famous Blasinger kit from Misdrha'al Hymmet (french community) is finally available in english :)

This kit can be used on BG2, BGT, All EE editions and EET, for PC and Mac.

Summary of the kit (for an elven fighter) :

BLADESINGER: Among the High Elves, magic is ubiquitous. It is very rare to see one who cannot cast some little cantrip from a very early age. Bladesingers are a caste that consist of highly trained fighters who combine a perfect mastery of their weapon with the ability to use powerful spells. A potent combination.
The Bladesinger knows how to manipulate the flow of magic around him to protect himself and augment his abilities. In addition, he is also able to mold magical energy to his will to cast spells.
However, there are a few trade-offs to such power. First, he must keep one hand free to be able to cast magic. Magic requires somatic gestures to be turned at the will of the conjurer.
Second, he must not wear any armor. To compensate for this, a Bladesinger is given specialised armor during training which is tailor-made and allows him to cast will offer protection. The armor is also a badge of identification and a Bladesinger will not willingly part with it.

Advantages:
- Strengthening magic: +1 strength.
- Force Shield: -1 to Armor Class every 2 levels.
- He can cast spells like a wizard. He gains spells every two levels on average:
Level 1: Druid Spells 1
Level 3: Enchantment Spells 1
Level 5: Evocation Spells 1
Level 8: Druid Spells 2
Level 10: Enchantment Spells 2
Level 12: Evocation Spells 2
Level 15: Druid Spells 3
Level 18: High Magic
- At level 21, the Bladesinger achieves the "Ultimate Mastery", a secret reserved for the highest members of his caste. One extra use of the ability is gained at levels 23, 25, 28, 31, 35 and 38.

Disadvantages:
- Bladesingers train in long-blade swords. They cannot handle other weapons.
- They cannot wear armor other than elven chain mail.
- Their off-hand must be free in order to cast spells.

ULTIMATE MASTERY: This ability significantly improves the abilities of the Bladesinger. By invoking this ability, for 2 rounds, he:
- Gets 5 attacks per round.
- Gets +3 to attack, +2 damage and +2 to armor class.
- Can cast chain spells and casting speed improves by 4.]

This kit is not mine, it's an old kit made when the weidu tool does'nt exist, so it's a overpowered kit, as all the kits from the BG team time.

I have myself made a true fighter/mage bladesinger kit in my kits pack mod (https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/60725/mod-the-deratiseur-unused-kits-pack-for-bg2-bgt-and-all-ee-versions-in-french-and-english-v15)

My previous version 0.9.5EE was downloaded 5 times since i have gave the link. Don't forget that it is an old release. The new one is the 0.9.8 RFT, and it is actually translated to english by Nightfarer (translation) and Gertwenger. Wait for the next release to profit it in english.

I will made a new topic for my mod at this time, but for now, don't forget we are here for The Bladesinger kit from Misdrha'al Hymmet.

@deratiseur I think you have left wrong line in *.tp2 file (line 176: INCLUDE ~Px_Chantelame/Scripts/fl#add_kit_ee.tpa~); I changed it and it and now it installs fine.
Had the same problem with few other mods for bg:ee though, so it might be something on my side.

Is there some late-edition source for this stuff? (I'm just curious, I never played anything beyond 2e.) This is quite different from the kit in the Complete Book of Elves, but I'm sure I lot of things changed between editions...

The "true Bladesinger" inspired by the one in the Complete Book of Elves is in my kits mods : https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/60725/mod-the-deratiseur-unused-kits-pack-for-bg2-bgt-and-all-ee-versions-in-french-and-english-v15

do not compare this bladesinger with the 2e pnp one. This kit was a Misdrha'al Hymmet' inspiration from the original, and if it so much apprecied, is exacty for this : it is overpowered.

    2) -1 AC every two levels is, ah, insane.
Twice as fast and twice as much bonus as a Swashbuckler??

Quoting myself here, because I was wrong. Well, I was right, an AC bonus every two levels is totally insane. But it is actually totally true to the 2e PnP Bladesinger kit. So it was the original source which was insane, not this kit.

I will point out though, that the original kit was a multiclass fighter/mage, so a bonus every two levels would translate to a bonus every four levels with a single-class kit. And I believe the AC bonus was only good against melee attacks, not missile weapons.
With my own Bladesinger kit, I initially tried to follow pnp as closely as possible, but the -1 AC/2lvls really is OP, and my kit takes into account the experience of a F/M multi. I also couldn't do anything about excluding a bonus to missile AC, or making the AC bonus only apply while casting as it seems to indicate in the Complete Book of Elves, so my kit receives an AC bonus every 5 levels.

This rendition of the kit does seem like an interesting interpretation though. A few druid spells for a race that gets cantrips makes some sense, although elves can't actually be druids for some reason that I never understood. I don't think I'm crazy about the restriction to long bladed weapons though. A true bladesinger could use the bladesong with any small or medium one-handed weapon, even if most used long swords. Ultimate Mastery seems a little OP to me as well, especially on top of a potential 19 str.
But all in all, very cool that this mod has been translated- thanks!

A good new for this kit : i have made the "easy to do" files for using this kit on Mac os-X. The .tp2 is ever formated for the job, so none update is neeeded.
    The original archive was updated.

I think there is a problem with using this kit on IWD:EE.

The only armour you can use is Elven Chainmail right...? You can't cheat for this item with the console, can't get it using EEKeeper, and the item isn't anywhere in the game...
  • Ekalia23Ekalia23 Member Posts: 12
Ohh ok ignore that. I think the armour appeared when I levelled up to level 1

    Hi,

Wonderful job with this pack of kits! I did have one question though...

I'm using the Bladesinger mod for BGIIEE and was wondering why Elven Chain (all variants), Sylvan Chain, Bladesinger Chain+4, and Aslyferund Chain+5 would be considered not usable by this kit. Aren't they considered lighter than Studded Leather Armor?

Would it be possible to allow the kit to wear chainmail of the elven type or even chainmail somehow? I think that the offset of losing spellcasting ability while in non-elven chainmail would essentially be the drawback.

The kit has the opcode of the metamorph"no armor allowed" and wear a special crafted armor that bypass the limitation. This is simple and don't cause incompatibilities.
Code what you want force to change this and can be made in two ways : 1. remove the "no armor allowed" and patches all the armors in the game except for the elvens to not been allowed to the bladesinger (and and also all kits that use the same unasable code, so ... NO for this option) or 2. apply the same craft to the elvens chains so also enable thems for the metamorph, so NO for the option too...)

Hello, I always liked to play the bladesinger, I don't mind at all, if this mod is overpowered, but I have to issues, first when I start playing Shadows of Amn, in my inventory is a not removable elven chain armor, anyway to fix this? Second issue or more a question, Im not really good with the lore or the history of the bladesingers, but do they have access to druid or divine spell's?
Thank you in advance, take care all.

Sorry, it's a mistake in the english translation:
They cannot wear armor other than elven chain mail.

    Must be:
He cannot wear armor other than his personnal elven chain mail.
(i really have to correct the english translation)

He have acces to a few divine/druidic spells. The spell list is in the readme.

Hello all, one lore question, bladesingers have access or can cast druid or cleric spells? I know that they can cast arcane spells of course.
  • deratiseurderatiseur Member Posts: 250
the answer is in the readme (full list of the spells he can cast)
  • Eltharion1979Eltharion1979 Member Posts: 92
Yep, I checked the readme file and I know that this bladesinger mod gives some druid spells to the bladesinger. So my question is, if lorewise, this is correct? Bladesinger can cast druid/devine spells?
Thank you again and sorry for asking again, but so far I didn't have a clear answer. Take care all.

When I import my bladesinger from BP1 to BP2 your armor disappears. How do I fix this?
  • deratiseurderatiseur Member Posts: 250
