BG 2 EE ToB will not start

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I'm just wondering if this is a known issue. I have played the game all the way through from BG to the end of ToB, so I know the game works,. When I try and create a character from the ToB screen and attempt to start the game from there, the screen goes black and nothing happens. Has anyone else had this problem?

    Well, that's a new one. I have no idea. This has never happened to me. That's a big mystery. Hmm...

    The only addition I have installed in the XP cap remover. I can still load my saved ToB game though that is at the end of the game. It's so weird. lol

    Press M when screen is black, and have a good game!

    I have this problem too. Solution: when the screen is black, open the menu, save the game in a named save. Then load that save. The starting area should now appear.

    Yeah I had this as well, pretty annoying.

    I'm surprised it is not a well known bug. I have this problem whenever I start a new game. Don't tell me that ToB equipment cloning (items automatically added to inventory after starting the game) is also not reported?

    Thank you - pressing M works then I saved my game :)
