Vampires or Thieves

So I'm playing an Evil Party. A full party I created myself. The Leader is a Lawful Evil Blackguard. Her style is to put on the appearance that she's good lawful Paladin only to work the gears behind the scenes to cause mayhem wherever she goes. So that being said she's quite polite in public view except when someone tries to exert their authority over her or threaten her she returns in the same manner. But when's she's in a dungeon or the wilderness she takes off the polite mask and shows her true cruelty destroying everything and everyone that gets in her way from achieving her goals. But I'm getting to the point where she has to go to spellhold and I'm not quite sure which side she's going to choose. While the vampires are the true evil path would that be the right choice she would make though? They both offer the same thing. I'm just confused at which choice her character type would make.

She sounds as if she's fundamentally deceitful, hiding her true nature from public view and only revealing her true self in situations where any witnesses to her actions can be easily disposed of. So, choosing the vampires would seem to fit both her modus operandi and her Evil traits, but if she's more inclined to be deceitful than anything else then she would choose the other option. The problem for me is the Lawful bit; causing mayhem implies Chaotic behaviour, yet the deliberate pre-determining of her actions implies structure and discipline in her thought processes. If the ends justify the means then if she were my character she would choose the vampires and her deceitfulness would take backstage. Plus the fact that it might be a relief for her to be able to reveal her true self in the company of like-minded 'people'.

N.B. Please be aware that I'm in insomniac mode at the moment so my reasoning might not bear the scrutiny of the light of day - which is not far off!

After weighing both options in her mind she felt like it would tarnished her 'reputation' if word got out that she was helping Vampires. Plus she felt the vampires had an attitude that they were superior to her in which she could no way stand. So she decided to use the thieves so to say. Though it's odd this behavior stends from her early days in after leaving Candlekeep where she wasn't strong enough to fight the law. I wonder if she still fears the law or perhaps its something else.

Technicly, Vampires iirc are supposed to default to CE, so you probably called things correctly. Organized crime like the Shadow Thieves tend to have lawful leanings, being very organized and with a strict heirarchy.

    Vampires.

This choice lets you slaughter them all: thieves first, vampires after the Spellhold. The Blackguard way.

Nothing stopping you from paying the thieves a visit after you get back from Spellhold and letting them know how much you disliked having them jerk you around.

I never thought of it like that.
