Return to Windspear

So, I, and I'm sure many others, have not forgotten about this project. The last thing I heard was that Beamdog actually owns the rights to RtW, so I thought I'd bring it up again, maybe as a reminder? I would be beyond amazing to have this released as DLC. So please, if somebody who can move some things around at Beamdog reads this, make it happen, if you can!

Or, if there actually were some developments that I have missed, I'd be grateful for any information.

As excited as I am for Siege of Dragonspear, BG will always seem incomplete until RtW becomes a reality. I really, really hope we get some version of it in the future

With SoD out of the way, I see no reason to delay any further... Beamdog should move straight to finishing and releasing RtW :-)

I completely support the idea of an enhanced edition of TOB including Return to Windspear and Ascension to complete the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition journey. Especially with Dave Gaider now working at Beamdog it seems like a no brainer.

Well, a new 'game' is coming. Could it be RtW?! Or is it implied that it is a full-fledged stand-alone game? Personally, I wouldn't mind a nice expansion for BG2 from Beamdog. I was quite impressed with the dungeon design and good use of new features (secrets, more terrain/trappings to identify and/or interact with) in SoD, less so with the style and choices in the dialogues, so a dungeon crawler wouldn't be a bad idea :-)

Here is the official stance on the status of the project - from the Ask Beamdog thread:

LUKE: I can’t comment on dates or the level of activity, but I do know that Cuv is still actively working on pushing the project forward. I don’t know what the timing would look like, but I personally would like to see it come to life one day.

All the rights to Return to Windspear materials were signed over to Beamdog, where Cuv was working last we spoke a few years ago. I doubt you will ever see anything come from this.
