#10456 [Item Upgrade] Telanis and Murdaugh should not keep the Sword of Myrloch or Ballad of Daen W

I bought the sword and went to the bard in the Shattered hand with the book.

The upgrade seemed to work flawless with the ghost spawning and commenting on both the elven bard and the sword. He then said that he would teach me a few trick to make the sword even better and left.

Problem is.. seems he took the sword with him when he left.

I have lost both the sword and the book that make it possible to summon the ghost.

Either I have missed something or there is a bug where you aint rewarded with the upgraded sword after the ghost leaves?

I noticed that the sword say HoW only on the list of new items that have leaked. I made it in the standard game the 2nd time I visited The Shattered hand.. I dont know it thats the reason for the bug?

    just happened to have the same bug , i dont want to waste 53k gold fix it please!

    @Kharas‌ @Geoffrey‌ if either of you happen to have a save with the book and sword, could you zip and attach here please.

    Update: never mind, looks like the elven bard has both the sword and the book. Will raise as an issue, however you might be able to pickpocket it back from him? Or I can retrieve them for you if you attach a save.

    Thanks for the answer. I used EEkeeper to give me back the sword. :)

    Yeah, you can also work around it with the console. C:CreateItem("cdmyr")

    If you have a bard, they can use the book themselves (the upgrade works if the bard is a PC).

    There seems to be an issue with upgrading the Sword of Myrloch Vale: after being summoned by using the Ballad of Daen Winterbrush with the sword in inventory, Daen Winterbrush takes the sword from inventory and tells how he'll improve it, but a sword is never given back - and Daen Winterbrush disappears thereafter.

    I've played through twice. I never can really upgrade The Sword of Myrloch Vale. My bard got two books of the ballad of Daen Winterbrush, but none of those work out when he summoned Daen out. And if you let The Severed Hand Telanis help you, Daen will disappear with sword and ballad.

    Hope someone can help me.

    I merged this into the thread @Strunk but then noticed you also mention not being able to get the sword when you have a bard. Do you have a save with a bard and the books for inspection please.

    There is a console command mentioned too if that helps.

    Here you go @Strunk I added a new sword in so you can junk the old one.

    Will have a look to see why it's doing this in your save (as I know I tested a bard for this when investigating the two non-party bards).
