#10472 Kensai dual classed to mage should be able to wear mage robes

I'm experiencing an odd bug during my playthrough : I dual-classed a kensai into a mage at level 9, but the odd thing is, my mage still cannot wear mage robes or gloves.
Can someone reproduce this?

Issue raised for robe, I believe the gloves are intentional.

But shouldn't the mage be able to wear the gloves BEFORE regaining the levels as a kensai?

rule-wise yes. at that point he's a pure mage. isn't effectively dualclassed yet (just has strange hit points lol)

No, try kensai > thief and you should find leather armour is also not equippable.

Same thing happened for me when I tried it by leveling one up with clua console and adding items, no robes seem to work.

Fighter/mage multiclass and berserker/mage dual-class can wear robes.

It's to do with kensai's not being able to use armour, and robes being treated as such. The issue is logged so will be picked up in due course.
    Thanks

this is true but it's a bug in itself imo.

It has always been the case for BG2 that a kensai can't wear armour even if dualled and inactive. Thief Use Any Item high level ability for kensai > thief is typically mentioned in conjunction with this but is not an option in IWD:EE.

Beastmaster > Cleric can't use metal weapons at any stage either.

i'm not going to use this thread for debate and won't push this point further but it's non backed by any documented rules and seems completely provisional and arbitrary that before you are effectively dualed you only iherit those disadvantages of certain kits (but don't, say, gain any of the advantages).

it might not be a bug but for me it has an aura of a bug.

kensai can't wear robes because they are considered fighters and are restricted in the item description, once you become a mage you should be able to equip robes(like in BG2) but can't because the game still considers you a fighter
