#10486 [All] Multiclass chars should not get bonus HP from >16 Con for non-fighter levels

edited November 2014 in IWD:EE Bugs (v1.4.0)
1. Start a new game with a half-elf fighter cleric, and constitution of 18.
2. Respond to Hrothgar (1, 1).
3. Open the Record Screen (R).

Observed
Character has 13 hit points.

Expected
Character should have 12 hit points.

Note
At levels 2/2 the hit points are 26 instead of 24, levels 3/3 39 instead of 36, and so on.
Fighter gets 10 base hit points per level plus 4 from constitution bonus.
Cleric gets 8 base hit points per level plus 2 from constitution bonus.
Fighter/Cleric should get half fighter and half cleric, i.e. 5+2 and 4+1. Seems to get 5+2 and 4+2.

Original report

Hello everyone

im noticing a glitch with the progression of one of my character, a fighter/cleric with 18 constitution.
I don't know exactly when it happened but when it was level 8/8 its hp were more than 130 (and not 104 as i could expect). And after the cap where the hp should be no more decided by dice they are still growing more (they are close to my dwarven defender with 19 constitution!).
I checked my equip of course and tried to sleep for days.
The other characters seems to have the correct hp.
Thanks for your help

Here all of my saves till now.
The first one (Daeveloniwd 001) is from the beginning, and everything was ok.
The second one (Daeveloniwd 002) is taken from the Severed Hand, and it's the place where i noticed the issue.
The Quicksave it's the situation at this moment (im in the Trial of the Luremaster)
    Thank you

In one of my playthroughs my barbarian I also gained mega hp at Severed hand. She was at a position of leader in the party. Second one was dwarven defender also with 19 con, but he gained hp normally. Sadly, I don't have save, but seems to occur only to a leader and in the Severed Hand. Think HP was like 230 when it should've been around 150. I had modded my save so I didn't post it as a bug in beta, but now seeing this issue it could help...

Interesting... My fighter/cleric wasn't my leader, but i think it happened on the first floor (on the part where you need to go down the stairs to arrive). I have the suspect that it's correlated to the huge ghost-type monster (like a mini-boss). I think like this because i noticed the incorrect hp just after that fight.

those ghost enemies are using a larloch's drain type spell to heal themselves. I noticed when I was doing that fight that one of the boneguard skeletons health was "almost dead" and it took my party something likw 20 rounds to actually kill it.

If their script bugged out and they were using it on you instead of the boneguards, it would make sense.

@Daevelon I went so far as doing entire Severed Hand, mythal lore book to Kuldahar and entering Dorns Deep level 2 and my hp remained huge. Maybe its a permanent bonus after defeating that miniboss. Whoever kills it gets bonus to hp:)

OK, think I can see what is happening, or part of. Raised as below.

Your F/C is getting 13hp per level, should be 12hp.
    - Fighter gets 10+4
    - Cleric gets 8+2
    - Fighter / Cleric multi should get 5+2 plus 4+1.

That doesn't explain why you get to 147hp though, did you export / import to get to Lonelywood?

    Nope.
I started from the beginning and im going through all the game without importing or exporting. Anyway i thought that the hp were the average from 10 (fighter) and 8 (cleric) and then +4 as bonus of constitution...
    But i think i was wrong:D

And im pretty sure that the huge increase of hp was sudden... i usually read the screen of level up for each character and check the results. I think that something happened in Severed Hand, as wrote before...

What you say about hp makes sense & gets to the numbers rolled - will add it to the report but am sure the devs will know what should be done.

In the meantime I'll play around in the Severed Hand :)

Thank you very much for your help:)
  • i also noticed this huge hp boost bug in the Severed Hand. I believe it has to do with shadow pact and the souls, the severed soul in particular on the first floor of the Severed Hand. He oddly targets the party instead of the bladed skeletons which he should be giving HP to not the party which apparently doesn't just cast cure serious wounds and instead just transfers permanent max hp to a target.

I have a save i was using for testing that i included just go down stairs and do the fight in the lower room a couple times as it didn't happen every time to me

@DesertKitsuneMarlFox‌: You might consider opening this as another bug if you can get this to happen regularly. That way it's separated from this one.

Once a thread gets marked with a bug number (like this) it tends to get identified with that one bug (the initial report). No one is going to remember to come back here even though there's a second bug the thread is dealing with.

Split it off, create a new thread....it'll get more attention that way.

That's my fault as I went down the wrong path with this one. Both raised now, thanks to all who contributed here.

The fact that full CON bonus is used for both classes in warrior multiclasses combinaison is a well known fact and it affects original BG and original BG2 as well. I don't know if this is a bug or not, not knowing well the P&P rules on that point.

    Totally agree with @Anomaly‌
I think it's a bug, but it's not commonly known as a bug, so I don't understand why in IWDEE it should be a bug.

Thanks @Baeloth_Jnr ; this is indeed clear. There is no bug and the current behavior is correct. Nothing to fix here.
