Unable to connect to the Beamdog.net Multiplayer

I am unable to connect to the Beamdog.net servers for Icewind Dale EE, I am connecting using a Steam Account. The problem is that whenever I attempt to set the Protocol to Beamdog.net, I get an error in game stating "Cannot connect to game session."

I am running Windows 8 with very up to date hardware. Any ideas on what I should do to get it to run?

    Hi @Parthicus‌
    If you have BG:EE or BGII:EE and they work you might want to check your pc firewall settings to check if they are defined to it and if so whether the IWD:EE game exe needs to be added.

    If you are using a corporate or educational connection they might have restrictions.

    I am using a home computer, not a computer with a corporate firewall. I do not have BG or BG 2 installed on the computer. Thank you for the help though. Do you know what firewall list the IWD:EE would show up on, and how to access it? with windows there is probably like 2 lists for firewalls haha

    I get that message if I delete the game from my firewall, but a router or internet provider issue would probably give the same message.

    In your documents/Icewind Dale - Enhanced Edition folder is there a Jingle log, and if so what does that say.

    At this stage it could be your computer/firewall, router or internet provider. Things that spring to mind about either helping narrow down the cause or fixing the issue are;
    - Have you shut down & restarted since installation (sounds obvious but easy to suspend/hibernate).
    - Corrupted ini file. Rename the baldur.ini file in that documents folder. The game will create a new one.
    - Check your router settings, e.g. is uPNP enabled, is there any website filtering.
    - Start a CMD prompt and see if PING BEAMDOG.NET works.
    - Using another internet connection; laptop/tablet = easier, desktop :(
    - Does a TCPIP connection work (might be hard to find someone to test, pm me if you want and maybe we can work out a time that we're both around).

    The other thing you could try is to bypass anything in your house that could be causing the issue. From your Internet Modem (whether DSL or Cable or whatever) there should be a line coming out of it that you are connecting to whatever your firewall is. Take that line, disconnect it from your firewall and connect it directly to a laptop or your desktop PC.

    This WILL take down any other computers or internet connected devices in the house so it's best to do this when you don't have a family involved in 35 different internet things.

    Doing this will rule out anything within your household (Other than the internet modem/gateway which sometimes has it's own router/firewall built in) as the problem.

    The other option (if you suspect it's a PC firewall issue) is to uninstall and re-install the game. This should allow the game to re-connect with your Windows Firewall and ask for permission to connect through again.
