Aran Linvail won't give help

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
AFter exiting Underdark, Aran Linvail won't give me the assassins to combat Bodhi. What causes this? He's given aid in previous games

    Why would you want the assassins anyway? Doing it on your own gives you more experience points, and it's not a hard fight. "Thanks but, you know, no thanks" is what I always say to Drizzt as well.

    I find the help useful if Bodhi's gonna take a key party member. Otherwise, yeah, they're pretty redundant.
