Scourge

First all, my mod list
This is my story.
The story of Bane, also known as the Scourge of Swoard Coast.
I knew I was different. The way they looked at me.
'My foster child' - Gorion called me.
'Scourge' - all the unfriendly people inside Candlekeep
I didn't understand why they were all so hostile. My father, Gorion, always avoided telling me about my legacy.
I knew why he did that. He wanted to strip me of my rightful place.
I will be the new Lord of Murder.
It all began in Candlekeep.... My father ambushed. An armored figure showing up and murdering him asking for my life.
My childhood was not that happy. People looked at me coldly, and were scared of my fascination for Alaundo's prophecies. They all knew.
But no one understood who I would become. What I could become.

Looking forward to more!
No, no one was different from me.
I saw paladins in candlekeep looking at me like I was a monster.
I tried to fight my essence. Everyone tries, but they all succumb.
Not only I had such a great burden on my shoulders, but no one tried to alleviate or at least confort me for it.
People think Gorion was a good father. But he was as distant as a stepfather would. He called me 'foster child' and tried to encourage me, but to this day, I knew why he avoided teaching me the things I needed to know to survive out there.
They say 'with knowledge comes power'. To this day I have to thank my father for not telling me anything. If he only told me what I was, who I was, I could have tried to fight it, I could have become a better person.
Not even my father trusted me. Or did he? It was my essence that he didn't trust.
I was used to get some strange dreams, but my divinity only presented herself sporadicly. Major events woke it. And with those came the gifts.
I was used to do good action around. In the beginning, I mantained a low profile.
At the beginning, every good action I did felt good.
I've got two things to say. The first is that Bane died twice in two different reloads. Against Mutamin. So I had to remake the character. And this time it has 1 less point than the first time (the second time I made him he had three more points than the first time). And the new strength sucks, to be sincere.
So now I've got 90 points.
The first time I had 91.
The second time I had 93.
The second thing that I've gotta say is that I didn't remember SCS to be as cheesy as the main player.
I died against Mutamin two times.
The first time I used the barbarian rage, and wonder what happens? Mutamin just fled away, and I couldn't reach him even with the barbarian. When my rage expired, he turned back and dire charmed me.
Second time. This time not only Mutamin fled, but he also blinded me. Then, as soon as my rage was off, dire charm. Good
Third time. I cheesed him ~ Made korax go near him and as soon as the fight started Korax attacked him first. He was doomed.
Now I've met Silke and she was going to kill me. She had 4 stoneskin, 3 mirror image and two haste. I didn't remember the game to be that hard against LOW-LEVEL mages.
My barbarian is still alive now, luckily. Some images there:

Re: SCS, their mages are very well scripted. Mutamin is one example amongst many.
This time I was able to get a good strength value.
Edit: @Blackraven
By the way, I've found a post by DavidW, telling that if you go for a solo noreload run without using a mage you should avoid using the SCS AI components :P
So I'm actually planning to use a wizard slayer like you if I go with SCS, but I'm currently really undecided.
I'm actually scared, for example, beating SCS Tolgerias without cheesing. How do I do that? If not by cheesing him and going in\out the place he currently ambushes you in, if you aren't a mage?
The wizard slayer, coupled with this mod (that's why I actually like your run - you didn't use this mod and we all know vanilla WS is a pain), could achieve better results:
http://www.shsforums.net/topic/49205-wizard-slayer-rebalancing-v112/
Without a wizard slayer, I doubt I would be able to do it. And anyway MR gets removed really easily.
If I won't go WS route, there is a chance that I will turn Bane into a Berserker\mage.
Or I will just keep doing a barbarian. Refinements HLA for barbarian are simply awesome:
Hardened Skin
Choosing this passive ability increases the Barbarian's physical resistance to Slashing, Piercing and Crushing damage by an additional 5%.
This ability can be chosen multiple times.
Requires: Hardiness
********************
Resistant Skin
This passive ability increases the Barbarian's natural resistances to non-magical fire and cold, and makes his body less vulnerable to magical damage. Each of these resistances is increased by 5%.
Requires: Resist Magic
********************
Toughness
This passive ability increases the character's Maximum Hit Points by 6 permanently. Toughness can be chosen up to 5 times.
Suggestions? I'm afraid that if I go warrior route, I will have to wait and wait and wait again for those pesky mages and their contingecies to go off. :P
Is that fun? Meh
Is that rewarding? Meh
Btw the Revisions you cite look interesting. In ToB the main threats are not only wizards but also a number of hard hitting physical damage dealers. Those revised HLAs would come in handy...
To me, if you go on a no-reload run, you should do every trick you can do, especially with a not-OP character. I think it's absolutely fine to use a Simulacrum from the helmet combined with the Protection from Magic scroll - if there're no other alternatives.
As @Blackraven 's example has showed, with a high level even a WS without modification can beat SCS Tolgerias. You just need to get your levels and thus HPs, HLAs and items.
I think that both an un-modded wizard slayer and a WS with a mod that affects his abilities (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/36803/wizard-slayer-rebalancing-for-bg-ee-bgii-ee-and-iwd-ee#latest for e.g.) are fine and quite challenging.
Your barbarian is also challenging and entertaining. I would definitely follow the continuation of Bane's story.
"So...? Keep going. We got all the time of the world. " - said the armored figure inside the pittoresque plane.
"Well, let's start from the beginning. I remember fleeing from the battleground where you and Gorion battled. That night, I don't even know how I felt". - Bane said.
"Scared"?
"Good word. Scared. But I wasn't scared. I felt scared when I met the first two people inside Candlekeep that tried to kill me. But that day, it was different. I was simply terrified. I had been living in a library for around 20 years, knowing nothing of what would have came later. And as soon as we got out, there comes the ambush. By a dark armored figure showing herself during the night, with glowing eyes, and a quite bad-ass voice, I must say".
"So, my presentation was effective." - said Sarevok.
"Yeah, I must say so. Fool I was that day. I didn't think you could have been waiting in the place where you fought Gorion. And as soon as the day came, I wanted to check Gorion's corpse, and what you did him. I found him. The only person that treated me well, butchered. No point on trying to resurrect him.
I checked what he had in his body, and all I could find was a letter suggesting me to go to the Friendly Arm inn and a pretty useless belt that had an enchantment capable of shielding me from ice. Then I checked the other corpses, and I found a longsword and a light armor amongst the belongings of one of your bandits.
Suffice to say, it proved to be what I needed to begin my journey. So why didn't you try ambushing me?".
Sarevok gazed at me, his eyes locked on mine:
"I simply fled.
There was no way I would have thought that Gorion would have protected you at the cost of his life. You were like me, a Child of Bhaal. You weren't his child. It was totally unexpected.
Do you think my father would have sacrificed himself, like yours did, if we changed our spots with each other? Gorion was wrong when he said that I would have also killed him. I would have left him alive. I simply didn't care about him.
Compare your father with mine. Rieltan was a mockery of a father. He even strangled the only person that loved me, my mother, in front of me. That day I changed. My blood was flowing. I was little and I couldn't protect her. It was the last time I promised myself I would have been powerless.
That day something awake inside me. I started to have dreams. Like yours. Many of those, I was able to see a temple beneath Baldur's gate. You remember which temple, do you?
Each dreams culminated with a skull smiling. I remember that I had seen that skull already. And when I asked my mentor, Winski, he looked at me and he started laughing histerically.
He knew. Or at least, he knew who/what I was from the second I told him about those dreams.
And so I started to study with him the prophecies and I learned them to memory. But Alaundo's prophecies weren't enough. I started training and fighting felt natural. Like embedded in my bones.
But I wasn't satisfied. I know that I had to learn more and more. I know I had to visit that temple. I wasn't still ready. I know that I needed more knowledge.
Winski thought that I could find such knowledge only in Candlekeep.
But I still didn't think I was ready to travel. There were others, I dreamed about them. One of them was you.
And so I kept training and training. And dreaming about that damned temple.
And when I was 16, I traveled to Candlekeep only to find you there. But it didn't matter. I didn't perceive any danger, and you seemed totally unaware of your nature. Also, I thought for a moment to kill you, but I didn't execute my plan because the monks never lost your sight.
And so I started studying the books found on candlekeep and I found a lot of books telling about Bhaal and Alaundo's prophecies.
I found what I was looking for.
The temple's placement.
We went back to Baldur's gate and 1 year later my training was complete. I had learned the deathbringer assault, the move I just taught you and with which I killed Gorion.
Then I took Tazok, Angelo, Semaj, Tamoko and we went down the temple. It was guarded by a lot of skeletons. That day I became finally sure of my legacy.
When we find the underground cities, there were a lot of skeletons. Each skeleton, when seeing me started screaming and mumbling about me being their Sire, but most of them were disappointed and attacked me right after understanding that I was only a vessel of part of the Sire they once had.
In the temple, I found two things worth noting:
- The first one, was an armor. It was beautiful. Black, shiny, and powerful. No one else of my party could touch it. It was only I that could take it. It was right over the bhaal's skull.
Tazok wasn't born smart, and even if the armor was floating over the Bhaal's skull, and the floating was probably due to a protective enchantment, he just run to it and then, after touching it, he started vomiting and then twisting.
I know what I had to do.
I just touched it.
And all the pieces went to the ground, and I started wearing it. The feeling I had was strange. But the armor wasn't fully empowered. I checked the temple, and I found a book talking about a ritual, that made me able to bind the armor to my life link. All I had to do was cutting my wrist and let some of my blood touch the armor. The ritual was complete. And the armor was strong as it never was.
In that book, I also found a way to bind my best servants to my life link, so I couldn't simply die unless they all died. I was ready.
The day after, I ambushed you"

Thanks Bengoshi for the insight about how to post the image.
Got some thoughts, before facing mages:
- Get the cloak from Algernon
- Get the body health manual
- Just keep playing and farming everything
- Use a nocap to make things easier :P
- Get the specialization gauntlets.
@blackraven I used the magic protection potion + barbarian rage + the kazgaroth amulet and it simply didn't matter. They butchered me.
But next time I know how to play. I didn't expect they would have beaten a level 7 barbarian with such ease, to be sincere. I was quite sure I would have murdered them in a whisle. But it didn't matter :P
Ah, by the way, instead of importing each time, can I just load a save right out Candlekeep? Or would that be 'cheating'?
As for the Wizards of Thay... Well, I consider this fight with the SCS to be one of the most difficult in BG1. To me, it can be even harder than beating Sarevok's party. Using the Protection from Magic scroll can be an option but remember that there're only few of these scrolls prior to BG City.
Also, I would NEVER go against any mages without Greenstone Amulet, even with a barbarian. The rage can stop, you don't have 10 rages available.
Mage's are pretty annoying indeed :<
So in essence, you don't care about their spell protections, you just need to be able to hide or have enough room to kite for 24 seconds each time they cast pfmw or similar. As soon as they're out of those spells they're as dead as a dodo.
I admit that I said that I wanted to start everytime out of Candlekeep, but I guess that sort of kills the noreload run. I just find annoying each time to do always the same thing, giving the book, giving the scroll, giving the antidote to the cow, etc.
That's why I asked if I could skip Candlekeep, but I feel like I should have avoided asking that.
@Bengoshi I like the fact that you told me this is one of the hardest fight. At least, I'm relieved, but Bane feels even better given the fact that he kinda knows the future he resurrects and starts from Candlekeep. Sarevok had his share of dreams about others, but Bane knows the future. Wonder what's better? :P
Anyway, you told me to attach images better. The truth is that the way I'm presenting the story is a flashback. So if I didn't give you the photos attached to the flashback itself, I thought you would have found disappointing waiting for me to write the second part of the story that culminates into the ambush.
Now that Sarevok told about the ambush, I can start attaching images.
I hope my story will give you half the enjoyment reading @lemernis gave me
Getting 90 for a warrior is not hard. The highest I got was 93, but the strength was always pitiful
What you could do is export a character (with good stats) after you've done all the Candlekeep quests. That way if you import the character after Bane has died, he'll already have the Candlekeep XP and items - but not the extra gold, which you may see as the price for not having to kill Shank/Carbos. You can just take Bane straight to Gorion.
Having said all that, I'm probably a serious nitpicker. In a way I even feel like a cheat running a solo WIzard Slayer similar to my no-reload WS Thani through ToB as a testcase for Thani's run.
I survived that. I was rather surprised by the fact that one of the potion gave me fatigue as soon as it expired.
Glad you survived. Personally I always love the narrow escapes.
I guess for a Barbarian it can be difficult to get your AC nice and low. Your best Armor would be the Splint Mail +1 (supposing you didn't somehow kill Drizzt). It's a bit late now and perhaps nothing new for you, but Boots of Avoidance + Claw of Kazgaroth + Cloak of Displacement give a combined +13 bonus to AC vs missiles, very useful against the bandits (and even the Kobolds in the Nashkel Mines and SCS Diarmid who's a killer with his bow).
Edit: grammar
Without this item, taking into account the alarm effect the SCS Bandit Camp has, you have nearly no chance. There's also a mage there with nasty spells (Hold, for e.g.). If you fight too long against bandits in melee, your protections can wear off and the mage will put you down.
The Necklace of Missiles helps greatly here.
I will edit it asap. Time to go sleep.
Teasing aside, though, cool stuff so far. I'll read it in more depth later on, but I like what I've read so far.
But it doesn't matter. The saga of Bane keeps going. And everytime he dies, I always import it from the candlekeep beginning, and do all the different quests in candlekeep. So the only thing that can be called 'no-reload' is the fact that I import my character with 0 xp instead of re-rolling each time to get the 90
Mod-related considerations:
When I talk about the party, consider that the names\content I'll be talking about means that those people are effectively in my game, bantering and doing their ordinary stuff.
e.g In ToB, if I will survive, I will get Irenicus. And he will be talking, etc, but given the fact that it is a really deep character, I will mostly focus on the banters 'the longer road' adds, given the fact that I'm afraid my try to get a good hold of Irenicus way of speaking will be probably fruitless.
In fact, the whole story will be a mix between the banters that you are used to get, and some 'facts', products of my imagination/fantasy. Hope it will satisfy you.

Second part of the story:
Bane looked at Sarevok, intending to continue his story.
"You know, the day you killed me, I started to meet strange people around, that turned out to be watchers of my intents".
'Elminster was one of them?'
Oh yes, he was... In fact he was the first person I met after leaving Gorion and Imoen.
'It didn't matter, anyway. He proved of little help, just giving me subtle confirmations to things I already knew. That's what Harpers do: they just meddle in our affairs, and they feel entitled to do so. To this day, I still do not understand why my father was one of them. And I understand why he took me. Just to have a tool to meddle in Bhaal's affairs. Just to prevent his resurrection.'
As I said, I mantained a low profile at the beginning and avoided getting into mindless carnage. I even used my diplomacy to calm Marl, a peasant inside an inn that didn't realize to whom he was talking to.
I helped Elven Firebead.
I got a ring of protection after having helped a girl getting informations about his husband.
I got the boots of stealth from a gnome that I murdered because he kept stealing my money from me.
I met even a strange person, called Lord Foreshadow, that gifted me a ring that helped me during my travels.
I talked with Noober and treated him well, beside him being the most annoying person I've ever met.
I cleansed an area of basilisks.
Then, after talking with a smith in Beregost, I noticed that he wanted Ankheg shells, and given the fact that I needed money, I started hunting them.
This was my occasion to make money. Tons of them.
And I started hunting. And hunting.
I helped a farmer named Brun.
Gave him also 100 gold coins because he frankly deserved it. He had nothing, and I think that he didn't endure, because his farm was infested with Ankhegs
But I kept scouting around and I even found a xvart village. They tried to overwhelm me, but they didn't succeed.
The most curious fact about that day, was Nexlit, the leader of the xvarts, summoning a cave bear that attacked him. I admit I started to laugh when I saw the scene.
In that village I met a guy called Borda that wanted to sell me some of his items. Given the vicious appearance he had, and afraid of being backstabbed by him, I just told him to give him everything he got.
Then I tried to sleep inside the Beregost's inn, but you had sent your nth assassin:
I kept exploring and even met some adventurers that didn't understand that they didn't need an excuse for me to murder them. One gave me a magical scroll.
I even met a strange party giving me their autograph.
There were some that didn't act like arrogant people, and those didn't need to die. You feel like I wouldn't control myself when given the chance to murder someone? Oh no, I controlled myself. There were only a thing that was important to me: profit on what they gave me, or in what I could get
While searching for Brage, I started to hear some informations about Amn and Grand Dukes. Nothing too concerning for me, at least for the moment.
Then I found Brage and helped him getting into his mind. I wanted to be known as a hero, and I was obtaining what I wanted.
I kept exploring and I wasn't surprised by the many groups of half-ogres lusting to murder me.
Sometimes I get surprised by the fact that Nature seemed to understand that I wasn't a danger, unless provoked/taunted. I didn't want to be a danger, but if you were, I would be your worst nightmare.
I then cleansed the Sirine's cave and got their treasure. I was almost ready to enter the mines, but first I had to take care of some mages I had met. Red mages, like Edwin. What a pitiful sight they were:
I liked the bits with Sarevok btw, very nice.
