Aerie can't learn/use Melf's Minute Meteors?

Hi, I'm loving Baldur's Gate II so far, but I've run into a weird problem. Aerie, despite being able to cast level 3 spells, can't learn Melf's Minute Meteors. It's not in her spellbook (checked both, not a Cleric or Wizard spell for her) and when I right click on a scroll of it, the only option is 'done', no write magic option. Is there some strange thing preventing her from learning this? She had previously just learned a bunch of other spells from a scroll merchant, so I don't know what makes this one so special. My MC and Nalia both know the spell, so I don't know why this would be affecting Aerie specifically. Thanks!

It may be possible that she is maxed out on 3rd level spells. A Mage can only have so many of them depending on their Intelligence score. You may have to erase another spell in order to make room for that one.

She may have reached her spell limit for level 3 spells. How many level 3 spells has she learned?

With 16 Intelligence she can only have 11 spells per level in her book.

if you drink a potion of genius she may be able to memorize it

That worked, thanks! I come from Pathfinder where spellbook size is the limiting factor instead of your intelligence, so it didn't even occur to me that this was a basic mechanical issue. I dropped Clairvoyance for it, since I've got better ways to scout.
