Trouble with Rasaad Quest Line

MestarMestar Member Posts: 78
I'm having trouble triggering the Rasaad quest in Baldur's Gate, when you're supposed to be ambushed. I've spent a lot of time walking back and forth to trigger it but no luck. I saw another post that's been archived that mentions using this command: CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("RASAAD_PLOT","global") to see what it says. However, I get this result:

Any advice?

I believe I have a fix for that, but I would also like to ask you a question so that I could possibly pinpoint the source of the issue. How did you first meet Rasaad in this playthorugh? Did he approach you after you had a fight with an assassin in Nashkel (either Neira or Nimbul) and tell you not to fight in the streets, or did you speak to him first?

In any case, you entered the console code correctly and it is telling you that the variable in question is set to 0 or does not exist. That being the case, in order to solve the issue enter the following code into the console and the encounter should trigger if all other conditions are met:
    C:SetGlobal("RASAAD_PLOT","GLOBAL",1)
Let me know if this doesn't work and I will look into it further.

I had the exact same problem yesterday and found the above solution elsewhere. It worked perfectly.

Rasaad spoke to me first during the Nimbul fight, which does seem to be a common factor. I also ended up with a duplicate Rasaad in Nashkel which must have happened some time after chapter 3.

I'll try it tonight. I first talked to him when he initiated the conversation.

@Hudzy I had the same thing happen with a duplicate Rasaad recently. I didn't think much of it at the time, but it caused some problems with his scripted dialogue later in my game after I recruited him for his quest (besides the ambush not triggering).

The duplication issue was supposed to have been fixed in the current (1.3) patch, so I'd like to see if I can figure out exactly how/when it happens and file a proper bug report. If you have any idea of how it happened in your game, it might help me reproduce it.

@Vakarian I kept a start of chapter save for each chapter and just went back through them. Prior to chapter 3 I haven't spoken to Rasaad at all, since I wanted to save him for later.

At the beginning of chapter 3, after Mulahey, there is still a single version of Rasaad who joins in the Nimbul fight and initiates dialog about fighting in the streets. I asked him questions about the order and all that but did not take him into the party yet.

During chapter 3 I did return to Nashkel a few times and never noticed a duplicate Rasaad. I didn't return to Nashkel again until chapter 7 when I first noticed the copy.

However, there is a duplicate in my beginning of chapter 4 save, so that's happened either at the chapter start or sometime during chapter 3 for whatever reason.

I did get some odd dialogue as well now that you mention it. After taking one of them into the party in chapter 7, I changed areas a few times and he randomly initiated his leaving dialogue over and over, even after picking him back up in Nashkel. I read about that issue somewhere else and saving after inviting but before he leaves, quitting and reloading solved that.

After that I couldn't trigger the ambush in the docks, I even tried inviting both into the party. The global command Treset mentioned fixed it and I had no problems after that.

It's now saying its set to 1, after doing what you recommended Tresset.

@Hudzy Thanks, that's pretty much what happened in my game. I've got a save from a new run right before the Nimbul fight, so I'll play around and see if I can figure out exactly what causes the duplicate to appear.

    Hello,

    I have the same trouble.
I picked Rasaad up when I was returning from the Nashkel mines after he intervened in the fight with Nimbul and initiated dialogue. Later he told me his full story about monastery and Gamaz.
Now I'm in BG and I cannot trigger the dark moon attack in southern BG, although I walked back and forth all the district more than once. (The duplicate Rasaad did not appear in Nashkel.)
I have rather advanced in the game with Aec'Latec already killed.

Since I have the iPad version of the game (v1.3.2053), I do not have access to console.

Are there any means to make dark moon attackers spawn without console?

    Thank you.

@Breto‌ you would need either the console or a save game editor to fix the issue. There is a thing called iFunbox which you can get for your iPad that can be used to transfer the save game to a computer. If you are able to do this then you can zip and upload the save file to the forums and someone else will be able to fix it for you. If you want me to fix it then make sure you tag me with an @Tresset‌ so that I don't miss your post.

@Tresset Thank you. Could you please fix the save for me? I attach it below.

@Breto Here you go. Let me know if it still doesn't work and I will give it another look.

@Tresset It worked all right. Rasaad's quest continues. Thank you very much.

@Tresset Rasaad's quest went just fine up to the end, but for Gamaz: in the final location of Cloud Peaks he never attacked: after dialogues he cast Blur and started spamming Detect Illusion, spell after spell, never striking back. I don't know why this glitch occured.

@Breto that sounds like it would be an entirely different issue. It certainly wouldn't have been caused by what I did, but other than that, I am not sure why that would have happened. In any case I am glad to hear that things worked out for you.
