Changing NPC class on Mac

I would very much like to change Imoen's class to either mage/thief or priest/thief. However, since EE Keeper is not working on mac and lvl 1 npcs not with BG2EE I wondered whether there is another possibility to do so.

    I believe @AstroBryGuy‌ wrapped EEKeeper in a WINE skin (or something like that) in order to make it work on Mac.

    Great, thank you! It works. :)

    Now I can simply change Imoen's class and everything will be changed and sorted out automatically without interfering with Imoen Friendship and so on?

    Not quite ;-). In BG2EE, Imoen's class is already MAGE_THIEF. BG uses the same "class" for dual- and multi-classes, with a flag for dual-classes. So you actually need to turn that flag off. That will convert her to a multi-class mage/thief.

    Also, note that her XP will now be split between the mage and thief classes. So, the 95,000 XP she starts with will become 47,500 XP for each class. That's fine for a 7th level thief, but it's below the 90,000 XP an 8th level mage needs. Imoen won't lose any levels, but she won't advance to 9th level mage until she has 135,000 XP for her mage class (i.e., 270,000 XP total).

    And when you rescue Imoen from Spellhold, Imoen uses a new .CRE file. So any changes you make to the Imoen who rescues you in Irenicus' Dungeon will not be reflected in the Imoen you pick up in Spellhold.

    Ah, I see. My intention was to turn her clerical (albeit it is not story-conform). I suppose this is connected to possible difficulties?

    As soon as I meet Imoen the later one I just repeat the manipulating with eekeeper and it should work?

    For a cleric/thief Imoen, there is a little more involved in the editing process. You'll have to remove all her known mage spells, add cleric spells, change the memorization tables, edit saving throws, etc.. And don't forget to turn off the dual-class flag, or she'll be a thief->cleric dual-class!

    And yes, you'd need to edit her again after picking her up from Spellhold.

    Thanks again!

    First I would like to change my PC multiclass fighter/mage to a Kensai/mage. Now: Is this possible althoug Kensai cannot cast spells? and second: What and how do I have to change manually (I refer to the bonus hit and speed etc.)?

    Partially. The game doesn't officially support kits for multi-classed characters. So, the results are a little wonky.

    1. Add the Kensai kit on the Characteristics tab
    2. Go to the Innates tab and press the Kit button.
    3. Pick Kensai for the kit, 001 for "From level" and your current fighter level for "To level". Apply.

    Side-effects:
    1. Next time you level up, your spells per day will change to those of a specialist mage. The way the game engine works, any kit applied to a mage invokes the specialist bonus spells.
    2. The game may not enforce the kensai item/proficiency restrictions. It sees your character as a FIghter_Mage, not a Kensai.

    I don't mind about the specialist bonus spells (:D). I will just avoid (obviously) wearing armors (which I don't like anyway). I am glad that the other extra bonus stuff will be sorted out automatically.

    I followed the guidance you so kindly wrote down. I do get the specialist bonus spells. However, I do not get the +2 AC or the +1 hit and damage all three levels (I do not know how to check last). Furthermore, it appears to be nowhere mentioned that my character is a now a Kensai/Mage instead of a Fighter/Mage.

    Do you know any solution to this as well?

    Sorry, I forgot about the applied bonuses. The method I gave you only adds the innate abilities.

    1. Launch EE Keeper. Select your character.
    2. Go to the Innates tab and press the Kit button.
    3. Pick Kensai for the kit, 001 for "From level" and your current fighter level for "To level" and the "Remove Kit" option. Apply.
    4. Now go back the main character tab. Change the fighter level to 0 (the first level box). Make a note of the current maximum hitpoints.
    5. Save.
    6. Launch BG2EE. Load your save.
    7. Level up your character back to the previous fighter level - should have all Kensai abilities now.
    8. Save.
    9. Go back to EE Keeper. Load new save.
    10. Edit hitpoints back to old level.

    You should have the Kensai bonuses and abilities now, as well as the specialist bonus spells.

    The game will likely still call you a Fighter/Mage, as it doesn't really support kitted multiclass characters (except for Gnome multiclassed illusionists). This method just takes advantage of a loophole in the game that allows kit bonuses to be applied to a multiclassed character.

    @AstroBryGuy Thank you so much, it seems to be working fine.

    I wondered whether you'd be so kind as to give me a detailed description as well for how to turn Imoen to a ranger/cleric or (if easier) to a fighter/cleric.

    Or if anyone else could be helpful I'd be very glad. I am rather lost.

    @Neb - Sorry, I had to find time to detail all the changes. Here are the changes to make in EE Keeper:

    Abilities Tab:
    * All Thief Skills to 0
    * Base and Current HP to 1
    * THAC0 to 20
    * Levels to 0/0/0

    Characteristics Tab:
    * Class to "Cleric Ranger"
    * Original class - uncheck "Dual-Class" (I'm assuming you want a multi-class ranger/cleric. if you want a dual-class, well, that's another story)
    * Racial Enemy - pick something

    Appearance: Select Fighter Female Human or Cleric Female Human (your choice)

    Memorization: Set "Max Can Memorise" for all to 0

    Innate: Remove any 'Set Snares' abilities she has

    Wizard: Remove all known spells

    Proficiencies: Remove all known weapon proficiencies. Select 4 proficiencies to add under the 1st class column using the "+" button. Be sure they are valid Cleric weapons (i.e., Club, Flail, Mace, Quarterstaff, Sling, War Hammer). The game will take care of the 2 free pips in 2-weapon fighting, so don't add anything there. You'll get additional proficiencies when you level up.

    Resistances: Set all Saving Throws to 20

    Ok. Now save in EE Keeper. Load the save and level up.

    And you'll have to do this again after Spellhold.
