Straight to BGII

So I've beaten BG:EE dozens of times but only beat BG2:EE once. This is because usually I want to play characters from the beginning to the end but now I have 5 characters that have completed BG:EE and I kind of just want to go to BG2:EE but then when my re-rollitis kicks in and want to try a new class I feel like I need to start over.
Do you guys think it's ok to pass over BG:EE and just go straight to BG2:EE granted I've beaten the first game many times?

For rp purposes you can say your pc has amnesia and can't remember anything from bg1, there are dialogue options for recurring npcs such as 'huh I don't remember you at all!'
It is also slightly more challenging as you will start with less xp, no magical items will be ported, no tome bonuses, and your mage will have no lvl 5 spells in his book. (And a lot less spells if you usually collect every scroll in bg1)
I limit myself to stat bonuses and xp (bg1 cap). On fighter types going from 18/xx to 19 is such an improvement and it saves the hassle for rolling super high stats. For mages having 18 wisdom is great for the wish spell and you get +3 from tomes so 15 is enough.
I super appreciate the advice and such. I always liked BGII more than the first but felt I needed to play through the first everytime I had an idea for a new character.
'Tis a shame my favorite npc, Alora, is only in BGI but that's what modding is for!
One thing though, you have 5 characters that already went through BG1 you say, does none of them interest you enough to continue their tale in BG2?
He made it from BG:EE through ToB and I had lots of fun n_n
I usually do well to sticking to the first character I make.
The second was a Cleric, the third was a Necromancer, then a Blade Bard, and finally a Thief/Illusionist.
After playing all of them I decided I think I'd like a Cleric/Mage. I've made like 100 posts about wanting to play a Necromancer and how I can never decide if I want to play a Cleric Necro or a Wizard Necro.
Then there's a Cleric/Mage, the best of both!
I definitely want to also continue my Thief/Illusionist gnome girl, Piro Faeren as well. I was testing a soundset and was just rushing through everything and then saw I had naturally rolled a 96 which is the highest I had ever gotten XD. Didn't even plan to play her and now she's one of my favorites n_n
I also suffer from a horrid case of Rerollitis >_>
