[Steam] Haer'Dalis portal bug

Haer'Dalis joined up with me very shortly during his rescue quest. I had him take the portal gem from the altar en threw him out of the party. Now, at the inn, he wants me to give the gem to him or he won't join or initiate his quest, but the fool doesn't realise he has it already.

Tried pickpocketing him for it but it won't work. Only killing him would, but that is obviously not a good plan.

BTW how do I fix this? Is there a cheat that spawns an extra copy of the gem?

    You can either use EE Keeper or console command C:CreateItem("MISC6X")

    I think this was raised as an issue but not able to check tickets atm.
