#11615 SoA cat familiar should travel at the same speed as party members

edited February 2015 in BGII:EE Bugs (v1.3.2064)
Used Find Familiar spell on fresh game of BGII:EE with Chaotic Neutral protagonist. Have rested mulltiple times in-game.

Observed

1. The Cat Familiar moves at ~half of the normal movement speed.
2. The Cat Familiar cannot cast Blur.

Expected

1. The Cat Familiar should move at the same movement speed as the party.
2. The Cat Familiar should be able to cast Blur once per day as per its in-game description (or otherwise, this should be corrected)

Notes

I reloaded the game and avoided taking this spell... the Cat Familiar is currently useless at this movement speed. It looks as if its moving at the same speed as a normal NPC cat. Can't imagine this is right from a design perspective as there is little reason to use a vulnerable, slow-moving cat as a scout...

Not sure if Blur was removed for balancing purposes but the in-game descriptions should at least reflect this accurately.

Chaotic good - fairy dragon, man voice when casting invisibility ;) resistances ok.

Chaotic evil - quasit, don't want to cast blur just precast circle under quasit but no spell, res and speed ok.

Chaotic neutral - cat, some1 forget to add movement rate bonus 10, cast blocked cos class thief, need to be changed to mage/thief, btw in known spell i see detect invisibility and it makes sense a burglar cat with ability to sneak and detect so blur just a mistake in description.

Neutral evil - dust mephit, ok.

Lawful evil - imp, man voice when casting polymorf self. btw i think polymorf other will suit better.

    True neutral - rabbit, ok.

Lawful neutral - ferret, same as a cat but speed ok.

Lawful good, neutral good - pseudo dragon, ok.

Ah and btw repaint please imp and quasit cos they all look like dust mephit.
Imp - Red, Quasit - Blue(dark blue or something)

Yeah, the cat has the blur spell set, but it has a thief class. It could never cast blur, so that's a mistake in the description. Also, the cat was always slower than a PC, (just tested with a vanilla ToB game).

I've just tried a new ToB game and the cat familiar moves at almost the same speed as a sorcerer (after removing the boots of speed ToB characters receive. So, looks like 1 not an issue and 1 text update.
    Thanks

TOB and SOA using different cre

I guess topic starter meant SOA, cat have haste in original SOA thats why it's moving fast as mage, in EE SOA cat slow, and i think u should ask them about TOB or SOA they reporting.
    So 1 is an issue.

Correct, Cat by design should be faster.

I didn't realise it was supposed to have the haste spell as such, but this makes sense. The current cat familiar moves at the same speed as any regular non-familiar cat you see throughout cities etc.

By design in SOA makes sense it had a haste spell which hasnt been applied correctly in EE.

Not sure about ToB, i'm playing SoA EE
