[Not an Issue] Windows: resolution change while minimised leaves a blank screen (Alt/Enter resolves)

I'm usually playing on a notebook computer at 1600x900 px screen resolution in full screen mode.
When being at home, i put that into a docking station, that has a screen 1600x1200 px attached.
My game is often idling in the background when i have work to do, so i can just switch out and in whenever i have time. There are situations where the game is running in 1600x900, minized to the task bar, then i get home, plug it into the dock, activate the game and it "crashes" (reproducable because of the resolution change the game obviously is not aware of). "Crashes" means it's a black screen, i can hear the game sounds, but theres nothing but ending it.
I can do this with my intel graphics or nvidia graphics chip running the game, it's the same for both.
Is there a way to make the game re-check the resolution and re-initialize display when coming back from windows desktop into the game?

If you are in fullscreen mode you could switch to Windowed mode (Alt/Enter). If you set this up on the 1600x900 screen, you may find it opens on either. & if you forget to switch to Windowed mode before minimising it may still swap if sounds are continuing. Worth a try anyway.
(& think I'm going to close this one off as a workaround exists etc.)
