Incidentally, I actually prefer these alt portraits for Imoen.
2nd from the left:
The left one (obviously):
Not only do they retain the attractiveness of the original portrait IMO, but they also give her a more appropriately youthful look (which the original lacked IMO).
I think that is a link to the BG 2 Imoen portrait. I know I am going to sound like a dirt bag saying this - and yes I may have at points in time been involved with very young ladies NOT girls - however the reason I understand I like the BG2 Imoen picture better is because she looks around 19 years old - and I think many a man - even though he will lie and say he likes a lady his age - would - if the impossible were possible - rather have his wife looking like she did at her freshmen year of uni... sorry to run the thread into dirty old dog fat bald guy in Thailand with a nubile Thai 'girlfriend' area - but yeah the BG2 version is way hotter - and the BG1 is sort of just a fat faced 25 year old look...

I like the farthest right one on the first row. I think the hairstyle looks much better with her face structure.

Her BG1 portrait eerily looks like a drag queen I know. While her BG2 portrait looks a bit like Milla Jovovich from The Fifth Element. Not crazy about either or Imoen tbh, but I like the more youthful persona of Imoen.
I prefer her BG1 portrait. Her BG2 portrait gives her age, experience as if she has had bad experiences during her adventures with you. The scar, her face looking thin, shows someone who has had some hard times on the road. Not a bad thing but I just prefer the BG1 portrait.
BG2 hands down. The BG1 one looks like a generic bland young woman, still too old to be Imoen. The BG2 one looks like a character. It conveys an emotion, looks distinctly fantasy and it's in line with the overall hand-crafted visual style of the game. Which is also why I think that, in general, "realistic" and even more "photo-realistic" portraits fit very badly in BG.
I quite like the the portraits wonnimchunha did over on Spellhold Studios (although I wish he/she had done all the characters, I fear they may clash with the vanilla portraits) including an Imoen one.
She is young, everybody call her a child, etc. And the second picture posted for BG1 is hot And if you compare that picture to Jaheira's you will see that it's closer in style. The BG2 picture is for BG2, she is a little bit older, and a lot colder.
I don't know the artist that did this one, but it is the one I use in my games and its awesome. Not sure if its a photo imposed on an Imoen portrait or what, but it fits the mental image I have of immy. And the cleavage, I could get lost in there (there I said it)
Not a fan of either pic, or Imoen in general. The BG1 version looks simply way too old to be the little sister of a 20 years old charname and the dress or whatever doesn't fit a thief at all. It looks like they didn't just take Random Guard #4's voice set, but also the portrait of Waitress in Winthrop's. It reflects neither her class nor her age, and it also doesn't look "cheerful, upbeat personality" to me. I don't really get why she has pink hair in BG2 (don't emo kids dye it black?), but the rest makes perfect sense. Her outfit fits her class, she does have more adventuring experience and the expression is in tune with her personality and general outlook.
Perhaps it's because I played BG2 first, but her BG1 portrait always felt somehow wrong for me. I think @KidCarnival articulated the reasons better than I could.

The third from the left has just done it.
It's pushed the picture over the edge.
That is not Imoen.
That is my mom.
What is she doing in my computer games.
Interesting, I voted BG2 pic for all the reasons you just mentioned

The best one out there is edited one, by @Syntia13

EDIT: How do I get that link to show as an image?
I like this one, made by @trinit:
From this thread I have realised I don't like either of her portraits much.

the BG2 portrait make her look more psycho

While we're talking alternate portraits, I quite like artastrophe's version:
