my familiar gave me only 4 bonus hp... is it normal ?

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
do not tell me the extra hp you receive is random at cast :P ?
i got only 4hp btw went frm 6hp to 10hp

    Hmm did your familiar die at any point? You are supposed to get 12 hp from your familiar.

    For the imp familiar this is normal. It only has 9 HP IIRC (and thus gives you only 4)

    Oh my bad. I forgot that BG1 familiars only have 12 (or 9 for Imp) hit points, so getting 6 or 4 bonus hp from them is totally normal.

    @Yamcha are you sure? I'm pretty sure that the Imp is the only familiar with lower hp than normal.

    Pretty much, I checked just a few days ago because I wanted to check on my multi-class starting HP

    too bad they didnt give all familiars the same hps :P

    Since the Imp is the only familiar that can cast a 4th level spell (Polymorph Self), I suppose they had to nerf it in some way that would balance out the others.
