@ekster Believe it or not. I play Rogues. I have been convinced to try a wildmage for the first time... On 18/09/2012 Anduin the Wildmage will be leaving candlekeep!
@Anduin I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Just save often, and always have a back up plan! And try to keep everyone else far away from the mage when there's casting...
I'm pretty sure I'm going to require a party of 1 wild mage and 5 rangers to get all those squirrels to attack the drow...
And I have to admit, while the wild mage is a huge risk taker, I do not think I ever had so much fun with any other class. I was almost always wishing for a wild surge. Nothing like facing someone though, preparing your best spell, only to cast a sex change on yourself and wonder to yourself 'What now?" with the spell gone... or a total party kill while trying to buff yourself no where near any harm.
i guess i have to be there, but those effects sound more annoying then fun, especially if you're romancing when the sex change happens.......
Put on boots of haste. Run around the guy with the bow. Don't get too far from Drizzt or bowmen get the aggro. Half hour later and whole area full of arrows, Drizzt is dead.
I haven't played the Enhanced Edition yet, but in BG1 and Tutu I either run circles around the gnolls and get him to chase me while they and my other party members attack Drizzt, or I run away from him, turn and attack him with ranged weapons until he eventually dies. That's what I do with first playthrough BG1 characters.
With characters that are in their 2nd playthrough or further I attack Drizzt directly in melee combat. It's especially interesting to fight him while wearing his own gear from a previous playthrough.
I wonder how much HP Drizzt got, my highest backstab dealt 140 damage So backstab, potion of invisibility backstab. Thats how i killed demon lord in durlag's tower
I just spent a ton of time doing the dismiss companions in a circle around Drizzt. I'm playing a kensai and didn't bring any missile weapons my main char could use. So Dorn pelted him with arrows for about half an hour. After only getting one hit in the last 200 or so arrows I had left, they charged in. He almost killed my Kensai before I pulled back. It was at this point I realized Dorn could stand just out of his reach and still hit him with his 2 handed sword. Of course I'm just about to kill him when a freak lightning storm hits Viconia and Drizzt. Surprisingly Viconia survived the lightning strike to be picked up into the party again. Oh well, I may not have gotten the XP for the kill, but I still got his gear and it didn't drop my reputation.
Apart from the obvious new way of letting Dorn rip out his still beating heart and then devouring it in front of him... How do you kill Drizzt? I have heard their are lots of ways... He has some nice elven chain and those +3 scimitars are pretty nice too...
It's not proper elven chain, in that arcane casters can't cast spells wearing it, nor can single-class thieves use it, BUT it's great for fighter/thieves (e.g. Monty or a dualed Safana), as you can perform thieving actions wearing it with *no* penalties (unlike the elven chain in the game).
BTW Drizzt's Scimitars can be pick-pocketed fairly easy with enough potions of Mastery Thievery - a pickpockets score of 165 did it for me recently - Level 5 Jester (80) + Luck (5) + two potions of Mastery Thievery (+80) = 165 - though you probably do it for less, though not as reliably).

Yep, that's how I did it. Talked to him, put down 2 traps while he was fighting gnolls, backstabbed him with the staff of striking, kited him to the traps, drank potion and backstabbed again. The traps might not have been necessary since he got gibbed by that last backstab, so must've been pretty far into the negatives.
I don't think you can one-shot him, though. That 140 dmg backstab had to be a crit, and since Drizzt is wearing a helmet he should be immune to crits. So it'd always take at least 2 backstabs to kill him.
Drizzt has (only) 92 HP, but he also has 30% resistance to every kind of physical damage (slashing, piercing, crushing and missile).
So he can withstand up to 132 physical damage.
These are his full stats (including the bonus from his equipment):
STR 13 DEX 20 CON 15 INT 17 WIS 17 CHA 14
Alignment: Chaotic Good
HP: 92 AC: -14 AC modifier: +2 bonus against slashing, +2 penalty against crushing (from Mithral Chain Mail +4) THAC0: -9 DAMAGE: 6-13 (+30 if the opponent fail a save vs. death) Attack Per Round: 9/2
Save vs. Paralysis/Poison/Death: 1 Save vs. Rod/Staff/Wand: 3 Save vs. Petrification/Polymorph: 3 Save vs. Breath Weapon: 4 Save vs. Spell: 5

Edit2: Added the additional damage done by Drizzt if the opponent fail a save vs. death.
Shouldn't he go down after 132 physical damage? (.7*132 = 92.4).
However can I remind everyone!
He still bleeds when you crack his head with a staff!
(I beat him up at level 1 to get most of his goodness early!)
