Problem with stealth in Black Pits

I am soloing the black pits with a shadow dancer and the enemy AI scripts are being annoying.

When I am in shadows, every enemy still knows where I am heading, and they will surround me even if I stay in shadows.

Back stabbing is also extremely difficult as my target tends to turn and face me as soon as reach them.

Is this a bug or is this cheesy behaviour working as intended?

It is a problem with AI coding. Dunno if they consider it a bug but it is Definitely poorly implemented.

It's almost certainly intended. I've noticed a lot of little AI tricks in the enemy scripts. (Though I've only played the BG2 Black Pits, up to the first(?) drow fight.)

I had to give up with my solo thief. Waaaaaay too annoying. The guys just would not stand still, ever! (And that invisible observation point in the middle of the arena, which has a side effect of making it difficult to tell if you are out of sight range or not.) It's justifiable, but eh.

Wouldn't be (as much of) a problem if PCs could backstab like AI enemies.

Aye. My first attempt had a shadow dancer. Never bothered after that.
