[Request] mod help

DragonKingDragonKing Member Posts: 1,979
OK, so I've been googling around, and I'm coming up short, or finding stuff that hasn't been converted to EE. To put it bluntly, are there any mods at there that actually brings in new spells?

I tried G3 spell rev, for balancing of current ones, but someone told me that it wasn't converted for EE use.

I installed wildmage addition, did the editing, but still can't get the freaking thing to work. I would prefer a mod that adds new spells, and actually makes specialist kits ACTUALLY feel like specialist kits, and not just a mage with a pretty name and lost access to certain spells.

But more importantly... I just want new spells. I feel like I'm just going to be repeating my mage over again at this point.

Look at scales of balance and time of blood. You even posted in it, not what you want?

I didn't get a chance to use it because I was trying to figure some things out, like what made my own sleep spell affect my teammates...

Bit when I skimmed it, felt like a lot of rearrangement of stuff.

I didn't try SoB because of what you said in one of the posts. You were developing ontop of some mods that you already had in game. I didn't/still don't feel like going mod hunting; or playing why this mod won't work...OK its too late for the later.

But it doesn't seem I have many options here now do I? I'm personally on the wall about ToB, I mean the only thing in it I personally like would be the scroll scribing. I don't play pretty much anything but mages and sorcerers, and even then mostly wild mage and sometimes DD. So a lot of kit additions don't interest me, since they won't get played, unless it can really catch my interest... Like how I tried to make Shaka Zulu fighter, unfortunately there are literally no African, let alone Zulu based weapons in this game. If SoB doesn't actually require any other mods to get the best possible use out of it, then I'll try.

Anyways, I'm looking at IDW mod right now, gurs, I'll give it s try.

Does it require a new game, or can I just run it with my level 4 wildmage.

I literally have no mods installed at all, well just the bg1 project and the mini quest mods.

So I learned what happens if you install SoB and then continue a already started game... Your game crashes when you try to rest. Sad, since other then that, everything else seemed to work well. Dynahier actually seemed to feel like a nuker mage even if she was just level four. Magic missile did look like it was hurting alot more.

I even made a new invoker CN mage just for the fun of it. But alas, I'll have to use SoB when I finish this run into f bg1 with my wild mage.

Really?? That sounds like a familiar bug that I thought I squashed already. I think there was discussion of it over at SHS, but alas, those forums are down. :(

Can you tell me which components you installed, so I can troubleshoot the problem? (You can post it over in the SoB mod thread, if you don't want to derail this one.)
Yea, once I uninstalled it, loaded the game and rested, it worked fine. Again this was on a game I was continuing long before I installed the mod. The mod works fine when started a new.

I installed everything but the magic resist and the kits. I'm looking Tome and blood again, since I'm currently running a wild mage again just so I can play a heroic character with bg1 project installed. I one to do a chaotic neutral run with a DD, to see some of the chaotic evil characters banter. Tome and Blood seems to be the only mod put there that tries to make DD, feel more draconic based then just a Sorcerer who spits fire from the mouth. Too bad there are no Dragon shapeshifting form.

Yeah, that would be cool and something a lot of people have talked about. Maybe an easy way to start would be with a 'drake' shapeshift, you could use the wyvern form, maybe recolor it, and give it a bunch of dragonish special abilities.

Alas, I have no time for such pursuits lately...
It would've hands down made DD my favorite class. Unfortunately I don't know a single thing about modding, even less about programming. I remember when I had to build a website from m scratch using only notepads, folders, and the bare minimal of coding knowledge... Not fun.I'll just stick to drawing and painting traditionally.

Ha! I did that once. Made a blog from scratch, there used to be this great little program called Bloxsom, and I learned how to host it on my home desktop, dealing with Apache and dynamic IP addresses etc. I also made an app to control iTunes from another computer (long before you could AirPlay stuff), and a menu system to play video and audio media on a TV (long before Plex and XBMC were available) and I've made mods for BG2 and Civ5... but I've never actually learned a blessed thing about programming in my life!
You know more then me, I mad 2 websites, one.from scratch and one with dreamweaver... After that I said never again!

@DragonKing you've probably uninstalled this a long time ago, but I just recalled this might have to do with the "rest until healed" game option (which is different from the "heal upon rest" option). If you turn off the former, I think you can rest without crashing.

This bug was discussed over at SHS I think, once their forums are back up I'll review it and try to fix it once and for all.
@subtledoctor I actually havent played in a while at all. Between the gallery showing in 3 days, college classes, trying to get a patron started, and trying to get a fine art america set up. i haven't touched any game.
