Trap/Lock/Spell Scribe XP

How can I edit the amount of XP gained from removing traps, picking locks and scribing spells? I've read numerous posts about the file xpbonus.2DA, but I can't seem to find this file in the game directory. I've found records of this in the file "default.bif" in the data folder, but editing this file always makes my game crash.
