Abazigal Destroys Me in Time Stop

ElfieElfie Member Posts: 61
I stop time but never the less Abazigal destroys Me when I am casting the spells. Why is this? Very discouraging. Also, I have a lot of level 5 weapons for Valygar but they seem to be inefficent, or else it is his armor that is so weak it cannot stand against Abazigal. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
My party is 2 wild mages, Imoen, Jaheira, Valygar, and Viconia. Thanks

Abazigal is now immune to Time Stop. So don't cast it when fighting him.

Thank you for the info because after it not working for me 5 times you would think I would quit but I wasn't sure if it was me or a glitch. I guess I'll use alacrity but it takes so long for it to work - oh well. I've come close a few time to destroying him but then he obviates someone.

This is my 1st play through and might be my last, but sometimes I think they do things just to be mean. I am playing as they suggested as their Rules.I had to replay a lot of BGII because I really did not know what I was doing and found I did not have enough of anything when I was in Bhaal. I enjoyed the game during the replay because I had an idea what to do. I did not make it this far before and I am having some fun but if it becomes really frustrating I will take a long break. (So far the story is excellent.) But I really appreciate everyone on this Forum for helping me. Thanks

As far as strategies go I would get all your mages ready with a bunch of continguencies, spell sequencers, and triggers. They should help to reduce the severity of the loss of time stop.

Well, I guess I will have to think again on contingencies, etc. and re-equip most mages later. Falling asleep now. Thanks for the help.

Just hit him with a few Greater Malisons, Lower Resistance and Doom, and have your casters bombard him with Fingers of Death until he fails a save.

He also struggles against AoE spells, at the very least, they can keep him corralled enough for your fighters to finish him of.

Well it took a really long time to change spells and triggers, etc. but it worked and he died the first time I tried and I only lost Imoen. So that was a righteous battle. Thanks again for the suggestions.

if you want to time stop him, make sure you always have a protection from magical weapons up, the only thing he can do to you when time stopped is melee attack you ( which is great because now his breath weapon and spells will not work) so as long as you are protected from magical weapons/ absolute immunity, he might as well be a sitting duck
