Have fake attacks been disabled in enhanced edition?

I am playing bg2ee vanilla on Steam and I noticed that my fighter/mage still has 'miss' even with critical strike activated. I learned that it was probably due to fake attack rolls which bioware designed in the original game just to make the game more exciting. So does bg2ee still has fake attack rolls or is there a way to disable it somewhere? Thank you in advance!

After the last patch for BG2EE you can change several things in your baldur.ini file (located in the Documents/Baldur's Gate 2 Enhanced Edition folder).

'Program Options', 'Disable Cosmetic Attacks', '1' means you don't get fake attacks.

Yep, what @subtledoctor said. Don't you have attack rolls enabled on the log window? In there you will see when you actually make an attack roll, and with critical strike active you can not even miss with a roll of 1.
Those cosmetic attacks are not applicable to ranged attacks though, that would be absurd. Melee makes sense as you feint, block, parry and look for an opening all the time.
