Quick question about buying on Steam

Seeing how there is 75% discount on Baldur's Gate 2: EE on Steam. If I buy steam version, then could I somehow gain access to a Beamdog's version of the game? Or it is possible only other way?

Oh, I see. I'll wait till Christmas then, just as I planned.

I thought it was the same thing... What am I missing here

The game is the same, @jesterdesu , but the place where your money go is not.

To me, buying directly from the developers is not only "animi nobilitas" and a way to say thank you for their work, but also helps to directly contribute to future projects involving the favourite games.

I could be off, but I think patches are first delivered to the Beamdog version, as well.

Steam gets it at the same time, earlier in fact for at least one I can remember. The other platforms tend to have to wait longer.
