well, so long as i can take my wife and sons with me, i'll happily live there. If not, the wish scroll can take me home or bring them to me. :)

Hear, hear! I'd consider myself bound/soul-bound (what's it called) if that's what it takes to take my family along. :)

    As for the role...
I couldn't pass up the chance of communing with a tangible deity. I would almost certainly be a Cleric of Garl Glittergold and a Gnome. My son would grow up hearing tales of how his mother used to be 1.70m (5.6feet) and wouldn't know if I'm telling his stories of my youth... or pranking him because it's my job as his mom or my job as a cleric of Glittergold :D

We'd live probably live in a small gnome community. Since death at lower levels is often final, I would just man the local temple and keep my kid safe where I could see him. Once I would be granted the power to resurrect people, I would probably go on 'adventures' if my community was in danger.

[OT: I don't believe in chunking from a RP perspective. A cleric can heal a gaping wound the size of a truck in a matter of seconds, raise all companions simultaneously from the dead but he can't stitch back an arm and a leg before resurrecting? ...like someone said "The Forgotten Realms series constantly shoves how powerful the gods are down our throats, but they can't revive a decapitated man? Please" sorry, pet peeve. So if this genie takes me anywhere, the gameplay 'rules' better damn well have a 'no chunking' amendment :P]

The location of the small gnome community only matters in relation to the 'danger level' of the adjacent areas. If dread wolves and whatnot run wild around the village, we'll just settle in one of the big cities in Faerun instead... Probably not West Faerun because of the intrigue, or East Faerun because of the slavery... or South Faerun because of the wars... so somewhere in the north, Dalelands perhaps. :)

Human Necromancer (I recently took a wisdom score quiz and I got at 16, so I meet the minimum requirements)

I probably would choose to be in the city of Baldur's Gate, apprenticing with either Nemphre or Arkion. Since there isn't any kind of wizards' society or network in BG, I think I'd work towards establishing one. Founding a "Bleak Academy" for necromancers would be an option I'd pursue as well.

Diviners do suck in computer game versions of D&D, but they can be very powerful in P&P contexts.
