A plea to Modders: taming the nymph

johntyljohntyl Member Posts: 400
I've had just about enough about the nymph summoned from a priest's spell.

She's uncontrollable and difficult to macro especially in critical battles. I've thought she's smart but when I saw her constantly casting Hold Person on an Orog without any success and standing there dumbly being cut and when I tried to move her she disobeyed and tried casting another spell and I moved her and wasted her spell.

I've just so pissed at her. Is there an existing mod that makes her controllable? If not, can someone please please make one? I will be so grateful.

    Title edited.

If you have to use asterisks to "bleep" a word in your post, that's probably a good sign that you shouldn't be using that word in your post (at least in that context).

Just do the responsible thing and stop using druid spells altogether. The world doesn't need more trees! Trees are everywhere!

Alright got it, sorry. I was just momentarily exasperated.

No worries! I get exasperated too sometimes. :)

About your post, I do have a question: Is the issue that the nymph can't be controlled, or that the nymph's AI is making bad choices?

In other words, would you rather see the AI for the nymph improved, or would you rather just take control of the nymph entirely?

My issue with her are the missing "ActionListEmpty()" checks in her script, which result in cancelling any player-initiated actions every few seconds.

I'm playing against SCS enemies who are more intelligent, uses more items and abilities from their possessions, and generally more sophisticated. It doesn't help (and sometimes more detrimental) for a summoned creature to not be able to be effectively utilised during the heat of a battle. (My nymph actually cast mass healing on herself when she could have positioned herself better to heal everyone).

I just can't understand why a planetar can be controlled but a nymph can't. Unless, there's some kind of backstory behind that which I'm not aware of.

Is there any way to modify her script?

That spell is one of the most over powered spells in the game relative to spell level and you want it improved???

Does making her controllable constitute an improvement for you?

In my experience, most people don't want their nymphs tamed...but I may be thinking of something else entirely. I do understand, though, that some people like to be in charge and that taming others is a hobby and a pastime so, please, don't let me discourage you.

@Mathsorcerer: No, I want my nymphs to be tamed. I want everybody else's nymphs to be out of control.
