@Belgarathmth, Being true Neutral by the AD&D standards would been you try to keep the Cosmic Balance.
Do equal amounts of good and evil for example save a town from goblins but then lead an Army to destroy it, the town could not defend itself from the Goblins but your intervention changed that and thus upset the balance.
I do not believe any socially adjusted (Non-Insane) person would act like that.
But ya wayyyyyyyy off topic...
How about politicians? Most of them have neutral attitudes.
STR 10 - Nothing special there. DEX 7 - I suck at avoiding or catching things flying at me. CON 12 - It takes quite a bit for anything to bring me down. INT 14 - At least I like to think so, but then again stupid people rarely realize they're stupid, so... WIS 9 - Due to a lack of willpower. CHA 8 - Not a social person.
Edit: I also did the test, and interestingly enough, it isn't too far off from my self-proclaimed scores:
STR: 2 DEX: 5 CON: 6 INT(pt1/pt2): 18/2 INT: 10 WIS: 14 - No. I once read a book about Darwin Award winners and did not think many of them were that dumb. CHA: 11 - This is actually the default score because I could not answer the vast majority of the questions. Almost NONE of the statements apply to me...because they require social skills. It should've deducted points for every one I left blank. Although that would leave me dead from negative charisma.
The physical scores are accurate though. I'm seriously below D&D human minimums when it comes to strength.
We've done this thread already, way down below the first page of the forum, but I'm all for another one, since I find these kinds of discussions very interesting.
Several people have done psychological aptitude tests that give you your real life stats, independently from your own ego or self-image.
I like this one, because it doesn't let you rate your own intelligence - it actually gives you a short intelligence test based on your ability to solve puzzles, and it tests your wisdom based on your verbal ability:
Hmmmm got some interesting results. Some accurate some not so much. On the angelfire test i got
str 13 dex 15 con 13 int(pt1/pt2) 15/14 int 15 wis 15 cha 12
on the other test for the easydamus link(D&D char) i got similar scores except for dex??
str 12 dex 20 con 12 int 15 wis 16 cha 12 which equates to a lvl 7 chaotic/neutral Druid of all things lol. I guess I should stop playing snarky paladins and play once as a druid to see what happens.
Interesting results and i based it on the fact that I'm 52 now with a bad health record over the last 10-11 yrs or so(nervous breakdown, 6 heart attacks, 2 pneumonias, depression and anxiety and a few more) so the con of 12 and 13 is surprising. I expected lower. In my youth the scores would be a LOT different though other than the 20 dex which i agree with as i was very very good at sports/positions that required a lot of dex + speed(goaltender in hockey, shortstop in baseball. wide receiver in football)
According to easydamus, i am a Half-orc chaotic neutral fighter/rogue lol
Str 19 Dex 14 Con 18 Int 13 Wis 15 Cha 19( wtf???)
Yeah, nice, i can't say, but my normal stats are more like this:
Str 16 - i had intensive martial art training for over 21 years and still going, my hits are heavy trust me. Dex 5 - although i am good at dodging, i am TERRIBLE at shooting or doing precision work, i suck, royally. Con 15 - I can take a looot of hits before i go down, and have a lot of stamina because of training. Int 12 - i am pretty normal i think, a lot of physics and math stuff might have boosted my int a bit. Wis 12 - i am strangely instinctive, and highly perceptive of details SOME times Cha 13 - i have strong personality up close, but i sense it's mostly intimidating than charismatic, from what people tell me(or maybe intense presence is what i should call it?) . Still, intimidate is governed by charisma, so yay me! My looks are supposedly pretty good, although i think they are a bit wild and rough.
I might be overestimating my self in some parts and underestimating him in others, but it's pretty normal, i don't think we can know exactly what we're capable of.
I guess that, if i was in Baldur's Gate, i would be either a Monk, a Fighter, or a Blackguard. And yeah, if i was a Blackguard i would take the angelfire results!
I wish all the various tests would state which edition of rules they're based upon. I found some tests on OkCupid/Hello Quizzy that are based upon original D&D (Basic, Expert, Companion, etc.) ability scores. The intelligence test is an actual test: it requires you to solve problems instead of being based upon self-reported academic degrees or how smart you think you are. Here are my results (with embedded links to the tests):
Mental Stats (there are separate tests for each): Intelligence: 14 Wisdom: 16 Charisma: 12 (definitely more introverted than extroverted)
No exactly powergamer-worthy, but it looks like I'd make a decent thief or cleric (I'd be limited to medium armor at most). I'd also qualify as a magic-user/generalist mage and for four of the eight specialist wizards in 2nd edition as well.
I almost always get "wizard" on the "Which class are you?" quizzes.
There was a previous thread on here but you had a given total for your stats to equal, so I don't think there were many realistic answers. I didn't read them all on this thread, but it looks like there is a little more reality happening here.
First some background. I was a skinny ass kid (graduated HS at 6'-2" and 145 lbs), did well in school despite a lack of motivation, never had any health issues (except that time in 72 when I had to be revived), was never a distance runner, and was kind of shy. Your basic kid.
Three years in the Army bulked me up to 180-190 lbs. Afterward I made a lot of dumb decisions that I still regret 30+ years later. My first time in college I graduated with honors despite spending four years drunk, stoned, and poking anything with a hole in it. Landed a decent job and noticed that the engineers had the good jobs and made the most money. So I went back to school, was Pres of the engineering honor society, and have done quite well since.
I am 55, smoke too much, don't eat right, don't get enough sleep or exercise, and have blood pressure lower than most teenagers. And yes, I have a little baggage in the mid section. I am about 225 lbs these days.
So lets go with the following stas.
STR 11 - I did grow into a big boy but was never muscle bound DEX 8 - I still do Ok for an old guy CON 10 - Just average INT 16 - What can I say. If you got it, flaunt it. Hell, 16 might be low. WIS 10 - I am not the dumbass I was as a youngster but won't claim any more than that. CHA 12 - I will talk in front of any crowd, but I don't expect many of them to follow me. I don't suffer fools well and can be a very demanding SOB.
Definitely stats you wouldn't hesitate to punch reroll.
Hm.... let's see.... I'm a physically disabled woman who can't carry a child's toy without help, have more doctor appointments than I do days offs, flunked out of college, and can count my friends on one hand...
yea, somehow, I don't think making my 'real stats' would be such a good idea lol. My best stats would likely be wisdom (common sense stuff and spiritual knowledge as opposed to technical smarts) and possibly Dexterity, as my fingers are kind of nimble if I do say so myself. So I'd likely be a cleric who can't carry heavy armor and have low hit points... somehow, I think charname would pass on my for Branwen, Viconia, or hell, even Qualye lol.
I just tried this test as well, I can't even play it due to it's setup. It said that I was a Mage/Sorcerer with these stats: Strength- 13 Dexterity- 12 Constitution- 16 Intelligence- 15 Wisdom- 12 Charisma- 13 It seems that every test is 100% different. Another put me at this: Strength- 16 Dexterity- 18 Constitution- 15 Intelligence- 14 Wisdom- 17 Charisma- 12
I took the INT, WIS, and CHA tests suggested by @Mortianna.
I got:
INT 13 WIS 15 CHA 11
That was about what I would expect. I've always thought my wisdom was my strongest attribute, and, I've always thought I was of pretty good but not stellar intellect. In youth, my charisma would have been much higher due to good looks and the self-confidence that comes with that, but in aging, I have become much more introverted and less confident due to weight-gain and less-perfect hair, skin, and physical condition.
So, I thought it was a pretty good test.
That INT test was *painful*. Most of the questions were 7th grade Algebra I questions, so I had to dig those skills out of the mothballs. Also, lots of number sequences, analogies, and analysis questions. I spent a whole hour just to get the 13, so it was also a test of patience. It should probably be a timed test to *really* separate the sheep from the goats, although if it were limited to say, 45 minutes for the 40 questions, my INT score would have come out lower.
As far a D&D class, I've always thought that I would be a wizard wannabe, but that I would really be much more talented as a cleric. I'd probably be either a mediocre wizard, a darn good cleric, or a cleric-mage who was kind of a dabbler in the mage end of things, and constantly getting distracted from my prayers and devotions by wanting to study spellbooks. I would also be very interested in manipulating magic through playing musical instruments, so bard would be a possiblility, although I'd be bad at it because of the low charisma.
STR - 7 DEX - 7 CON - 9 INT - 12 WIS - 12 CHA - 10
heh , higher on wis and cha than i would have given myself, lower on dex, but probably more truthful. my self-ratings on con and int were right on so not too bad...but definitely very much a commoner! Turnips, anyone?
The physical stats are about what I expected and very similar to what I got from belgarathmth's first test. INT and maybe WIS are too high (WAY too high). The main problem with the INT test was how much my education helped, although that is true for most intelligence tests I know of. My actual rate of learning is disgustingly slow.
The WIS test asked a lot of questions about how others perceive me, but other people often have a wrongly high opinion...until they start working with me.
My CHA score is probably a little high because of several questions could be interpreted multiple ways. For example, other people remember my name more often than I remember theirs, but that's because I have TERRIBLE memory, not because I'm important or charismatic.
On the plus side, with these stats I can finally be a wizard!
Thanks for posting these, Mortianna. Even though it seems like I'm picking them apart, they're more accurate than most tests I've taken (except the INT test, but I love puzzles anyway). I had a lot of fun with them.
I think my dex should be down to avg but else it looks what I would have expected. It also said I was Chaotic Evil Human Sorcerer (5th Level) (since it containts more than just the stats) I find it abit weird, since I took the aligment test not long ago and was CE! and I plan on making a Sorcerer next... Oo these test are creepy
