I realize that making a LI "bisexually" available is often considered lazy design, but I think it's also possible to do it well. For example, focusing on the NPC falling for CHARNAME as a person, regardless of his/her gender. Or actually writing the character bisexual. Or writing the character mainly heterosexual but nonetheless falling for CHARNAME of the same sex. In the first case CHARNAME's gender doesn't really matter (this one would be the "try-sexual" case, I suppose , and in the latter two cases the sexuality of the NPC would be covered in their character development.
