Wanev, Mutamin, and their connection

So, you meet Wanev in Spellhold, a crazy old wizard dude. You meet Mutamin in Mutamin's garden, and he's a crazy old wizard dude as well.

Then, in Neverwinter Nights, you meet Wanev and Mutamin in Port Llast, both of whom are crazy old wizard dudes. Are these the SAME Wanev and Mutamin as in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2?

Though it is possible, I don't think there is too much of a connection here. In NWN Wanev was a wizard, but he was not really crazy (just had a problem with alcohol). Mutamin was a retired adventurer who ran an inn. He was not crazy and his class was never stated in the game. They do reuse a lot of names in these games and it is possible that is just what this is.

Also, in NWN Wanev mentions having a familiar named "Pooky", which is also the name of a familiar in BG2.

... and for the avoidance of confusion, that's someone else's familiar, nothing to do with the BG1 Mutamin.

I was just curious, as these weren't exactly "low profile" characters in the BG series, and they play major plot roles in NWN as well.
